Actually i dont really care about the screen.
Well, AMOLED and LCD only makes great difference when you really look carefully at it, and i dont really think that it affects our daily life too much. Viewing angle? Well, when you're using a phone that has a LCD screen and try to read the screen under the bright sun,for sure you'll look for some sort of solution to let you read it properly [shade it with your hand, go somewhere else that has shadow from the buildings/trees or maybe adjust the screen brightness, which i use the most]
But still, if it comes with a AMOLED screen will be better.
Just an extra point, my country is selling 2 types of Galaxy S
One with S-LCD and another one is AMOLED, and the price difference is RM400! [equivalent to 130USD]

They could have added a flash for the camera, anyways they are cutting out on all the good features of the phone, and the price should be cheaper than $450. Another word heard is that, it CDMA version of the phone with SLCD.

Hi. Samsung i9003 galaxy SL entered iran on March 14 2011 but only 4GB and they are selling it for about $ 550 USD. Although the economy of iran sucks, we have to buy it with higher prices! I am waiting to buy the 16BG or SE Xperia Neo because Neo has a flash too. I love Japanese people because they are very hard working and I am absolutely sorry for them to face that horrible tsunami and unfortunately I have to wait for Neo much longer. Long live Japan! Japan will recover very soon I am sure about it!

It will also be launched in Malaysia soon. Priced at RM1198, RM1148, and RM818 with an 18 month contract of RM88, RM118, and RM250 respectively.
In USD that's 392.30, 375.93, and 267.66 with contracts of 28.82, 38.64, and 81.867 respectively.
It's more expensive thanks to tariffs and quotas.

This is available for 19500 everywhere in Mumbai.
I got one myself last week. its not very different but if u compare it with Super AMOLED screen then its lot inferior.
Also it doesn't support all video formats like the original SGS.
a good buy though.

this is delayed news, the SGSL launched atleast 10-15 days ago here in India....the reason why India might be one of the few countries with early availability is because the original SGS went out of stock here almost 2 months ago!! and the reason for the no fanfare silent release is so that samsung can fool the Indian customers into buying this phone by getting them to think that this is the same SGS that was out of stock which has been launched again at a big discount(SGSL is available for as cheap as Rs 19,500 ie $ 433 as compared to the SGS which always maintained a sale price of around Rs 27,000 ie $ 600)....indians in general are very nooby and ignorant of specifications like the 4gb and SLCD differences..and most of them have no clue it uses the 530 series lower performing GPU
