Anyway, windows is probably the worst OS of all time... and Bill Gates stole it from apple when he worked there......

android fanatic, 04 Apr 2017Well, you can have whatever you want on your pc but not eve... moreFor vast majority of people they do not need a PC which also eats up space in the home. However majority will have a cell phone of some kind hence Android is most "popular" since it is in handsets in all price budgets.

android fanatic, 04 Apr 2017Well, you can have whatever you want on your pc but not eve... moreI agree with you. And call me a paranoid, but a unified system without any choice nor competitor whatsoever will leads to a monopoly. And monopoly in any business will never do us consumer any good. Do you want a single OS monopoly? Not me. :)

I don't see any advantages of android. Why this relatively new OS of questionable quality replace all other OS? The only reason android is so popular is because it comes with so many phones. Let's see it does so well in PC market. Its only advantage is budget products. Variety of choice is a good thing, please don't deny it and stop being obsessed with one thing.

Microsoft making more money selling their apps on Android than they got licencing/selling their mobile OS. and tell me why would I even pay for a buggy os that's Microsoft trying to fix since it's release! I want a unified system, Android can give me that, so I want Android in my PC. What's wrong with that.

AnonD-656673, 04 Apr 2017Someone replied the same way you did in 2012 when I said I ... more Browsing on the phone is really a matter of taste. I see a lot of people like browsing the web on the phone but I prefer a 13" ultrabook which, in my opinion, provides the best combination of convenience and mobility. I use the phone for browsing only when I really do not have any other option. I have nothing against Android taking over the consumer market, but all these talks that "windows will die" and "windows mobile is dead" are ridiculous. All this commotion about android beating iOS or Windows is pointless. The more OS choices there is, the better it is to the consumers.

Supriced that Windows is still ahead in so many countries.
Few people seem to start their computer for browsing these days.
I do all the time, but I know of few others that does.
Excluding app access to pages, will on the other hand have a huge impact here.
I think the statistics is actually incorrect, I have a hard time believing that in my country (Sweden) more people actually uses Windows. The only way that is true, is if a lot of people spend their workdays browsing, rather than working.
I think the pages in the sample pool may paint a incorrect picture.
I think both iOS and Andorid is ahead in sweden, in terms as the go to device for everyday browsing.
If there were more devices that combined Android with phyical keyboard, I think android would be even more dominant.

If I had a phone with a physical keyboard (and dedicated keys for the 3 extra letters in my language), I would probably do a lot more of my browsing on that phone. If there were laptops that ran a desktop friendly version of Android, similar to the Samsung DeX version of android, I would consider that as my next browsing solution (as long as it's fanless, has enough storage, expandable storage, good enough CPU and batterylife, I get all that with windows today, ok, x86 based CPUs that support fanless operation are not that great yet).

Some people talked about android taking over as the most popular gaming platform.
I'm sure it will, if we are talking about games in general. If we are talking about gaming as the crowd that spends thousands on gaming computers, well, android will never catch up, unless google makes a version that can work like windows, in terms of scaling with different hardware.
Or alternatiely, google actually makes a gaming version of the OS, intended for gaming consoles (that may or may not start with a gaming console by Google themselves). That could if combined with powerfull enough hardware, actually get them far in terms of high end gaming.

For multimedia, in general, I'm sure android will take over, especially if chromecast is included (andorid TV probably already counts). Windows isn't the best platform for multimedia in general.

Sachmo, 04 Apr 2017You hit the nail on the head. In most developing countries ... moreWhat you are saying is correct..... But it has nothing to do with what I said. And I know in developing countries ppl use phones as primary device. I'm from India. OK. And though I have my own pc, I do my web browsing on my phone.

Sachmo, 04 Apr 2017You hit the nail on the head. In most developing countries ... moreWell, android is growing more and more towards the processing power of windows and you can already download a lot of office suite on android, google even made an"android for work" programme.
The thing is windows is still better to browse the web but soon android will surpasse its power+ mobility.
In short, you CAN be serious with work on android.

In most developing countries the average person may not be able to afford a pc and phone. The phone is more versatile so that is what they purchase.

Android will never takeover the desktop market just like Windows will never takeover the portable phone market.

Windows is for work. Android is for play.

Not surprising. Android phones are a dime a dozen nowadays to theres bound to be more use when there are more devices. The price determines everything....just look at OS X/Mac OS and see how the line is steady. After all, not everyone can afford a Mac but nearly everyone can afford some android so that is the reason there is more usage.
