This is going to be a great device!
People have been saying that it is a very quick device with no lag even though it has a mid-range CPU. I just wish it wasn't delayed, but TCL said it was because demand was already outstripping supply and they didn't want to come up short when it's released.

I had to reluctantly move away from Blackberry almost 6 years ago and now with Blackberry Priv, I am so happy again. This phone will cover me for post Priv Era but I hope they come back with an update for Priv in the future with sliding keyboard.

Anonymous, 04 Apr 2017There is evidence that BlackBerry isn't actually providing ... moreYeah their support isn't what it was at their peak. Its sad to see the state the company is in. It was only 10 years ago, that they were dominating the portable phone market with Nokia. Yeah they are one step away from being a patent trolling company. Their patents on the physical hardware keyboard are primarily what is stopping other companies from even attempting to make one themselves. Its entirely possible that they'll out do BB even in this. BB is an embarrassment to title 'software company'. Transparency would be a good step in the right direction but surely at some point competition authorities can observe the detriment to the consumer of them holding patents they are not engaging with?

Best of luck to BlackBerry.
As someone with a strong preference to QWERTY phones, I hope they can continue to produce devices. With the Keyone coming out, I'm set for another couple of years at least.

AnonD-286078, 04 Apr 2017Probably the best version of Android outside of stock (Vani... moreThere is evidence that BlackBerry isn't actually providing security patches; rather, they are providing arbitrary library updates and updating the Security Patchlevel screen within Android settings.
Until BlackBerry, which bills itself as a software company these days, is more transparent about their contributions upstream and their "security" enhancements, and not just marketing speak which QNX has devolved into, we have to assume that this is a sinking ship with being bled dry by the MBA's and marketing folk no real engineering capability anymore. They are one step removed from patent troll business model.
BlackBerry can't even maintain their support forums anymore, and are sending people to Crackberry Forums for support. They do not have the expertise to maintain their own forums anymore; people have left the company for greener pastures. Thus, the repeated delays on a finished hardware product, caused by BlackBerry software not being ready.
The first step towards credibility would be releasing public timetables for support of their devices, when they are scheduled for major and minor point releases, and how long the devices will receive updates. The next step -- tell us exactly WTF differentiates your "hardened" Android. What are the patches that you are providing that even Google doesn't find, and why aren't you publishing them upstream. "Encrypted kernel" is b.s. and anybody who has ever done a make install will tell you that. "Hardware root of trust" is marketing gibberish that falls along similar lines.

I agree with KonaTom. BB is very "unbusiness-like" for what claims to be a business oriented company.

AnonD-653748, 04 Apr 2017I still use a Z10 and have faithfully awaited a decent new ... moreChen is clueless about running a consumer electronics company. He's had many chances, but they continue to repeat the same failing strategy with overpriced phones and 12-18 month old tech (and this is with mid-range CPU, GPU and camera components).
Then there is his instance to try and push physical QWERTY keyboard phones to the market. That ship sailed long, long ago.
I had a Z10 and Z30 and like most Bos 10.x fans, was waiting for a phone with flagship specs to match the price. Then Chen took over and killed the platform (regardless of the less than honest comments about still supporting the platform). So much for waiting.
The licensing of the BB name to 3rd parties to build the phone is his last trick to try and get sales and revenues. This Keyone is no different from any of the previous QWERTY phones released during his leadership: overpriced and appealing to a niche market at best. In other words, another sales flop.

I still use a Z10 and have faithfully awaited a decent new BB device etc etc....but BB or Alcatel or whomever, simply cannot put together a decent marketing plan. From the time that BB official made that embarrassing presentation with Alicia Key (sp) to the introduction of the KeyOne the other day by a guy on stage that looked as though he was reading a teleprompter and zero credible enthusiasm...that elicited lukewarm applause....to leading what few customers remain, to believe the KeyOne would be released April 2017...omg...Mr. Chen, what are you doing over there??? Are you seeking ways to alienate the remaining BB supporters? Is ANYONE with experience and smarts heading up Marketing for this device? These issues plague almost everyone in the industry...can't you see that and make one enormous effort to get things done right? Once the KeyOne was introduced, it fell off the radar...now for months. Why did you permit this to occur? Alcatel and BB, did you consider creating at least one huge feature on this device that would 'leak' in early April...to reignite enthusiasm? So much enthusiasm has been lost for you folks, and so much money has been lost by those holding on to BBRY for years. I hope someone with power wakes up over there.

From a commercial aspect, why bother to launch when it is not even going to make a dent and create profits? What is TCL thinking? Or what was John trying to achieve?

Sultan, 04 Apr 2017Is blackberry with android is good?Probably the best version of Android outside of stock (Vanilla) found on the Pixel's and Nexuses. Security and bug patching is quick and highly successful. Stability is iOS beating. I wish BB all the success for this phone. It deserves it to be honest. Its at least trying something new and innovative. I've not seen anything of the sort from Samsung or LG this year.

Launching SD 625 in April 2017 is already outdated. Delaying it for a month is simply not good for BB.
