I agree with you with the current mac hardware is garbage compared to getting a very powerful pc which will never degrade gaming imagine the Titan xp GPU . But things might change if you can customize the GPU and CPU on a Mac. This will give you the abilty to have both worlds. meaning if you boot camp your mac with windows and the Windows is getting the same grade of hardware as a PC machine for instance a gtx 1080ti or Titan XP then a mac in the future might be a good investment.. The reason I hate macs at the moment is not becuase of the OS but the stupid hardware that is obsolete when they come out of the market. A current mac is a stupid investment since you cannot upgrade the hardware. Buying a mac now is the most stupid idea in the whole universe.

If Mac would keep its promise that it would be able to upgrade the CPU and GPu in its new mac book Pro I am in. This is the machine I will buy Because this machine will be great for gaming ! Since you can boot camp Windows in a Mac machine therefore you getting both worlds you can use your mac side for serious stuff and use the windows side for gaming and heavy apps .. and iamgine running the Titan xp or GTX 1080 ti GPU on a Mac OS. That would be very powerful. I hope you can upgrade the hard drive and ram as well.

Mac is not for gaming but f... moreMac always been modular, you can change the RAM and HDD and that about it. Oh, and I'm sure you can't switch with any hardware you want like PC does but only "Apple certified hardware." Like always Apple love absolute control.
I'm sure anyone who can read can tell that he said nothing about gaming and anyone with half-a-brain know that If the specs sucks then you can't do much with it. Computer running on technology not magic. By saying "Mac is not for gaming but for work" not gonna make it look better.
At the price point Apple asking for. I for one would rather have lastest tech and most powerful hardware available and can perform all kinds the heavy tasks. Gaming is one of the heaviest tasks and if your hardware can't gaming on it then I'm sure you can't do any 3D works or any work that required high-end VGA either. By the look of it from the history Apple just gonna slap either a low-end or mid-low VGA for the "Pro" as always.

The problem with Macs is that hardware gets obsolete easily since you cannot upgrade the hardware of a Mac.. If you have the budget to purchaase a Mac why not purchase a PC for the same price you will get the latest and most powerful hardware that will leave the Mac eating dust.. Imagine the computing power of a PC with a GTX 1080TI on SLI ...The world would be great of it is legal to use the MAC OS on a customize machine of your choice. Imagine how fast and the Mac apps would be.

$4000 Apple gave you a Xeon and D700, a VGA from 2012.
At that price I could easily build two PCs with 1700 and 1080Ti.

But yeah, if I had to use MacOS, I'd rather build a 3 times cheaper and more powerful Hackintosh and deal with potential Hackintosh related problems.

If Apple would charge less and give more freedom such as the ability to upgrade any hardware in it, then it would sell millions more.
They lock their systems so much it's silly. I would have liked a Mac laptop with a 17.3in. 1080p screen, high end NVIDIA or AMD graphics card, full keyboard with numpad, etc. for 2000 CAD and I would buy it. I already have a 2300 CAD Alienware (I got it for 1500 xD ).
Because they're overpriced and don't have a 17in laptop, I won't be buying one.
