And just about anything released with a display in mass production can vary a little in calibration.
As well as most iPhone white point is off by about 500 points or more sometimes.

Dafq it's not even as bright as the XZ could get, and that's by the bright wallpaper. Sony on the other hand, eventhe Xperia X blew my eyes away after seeing its brightness and contrast level. XZ is just on another league of the display quality. S7 Edge sure looks the best, but I can never deal with yellowish whites, and yesh, it was on Basic Mode when I saw it

Screens Maniac, 08 Apr 2017I thinking you are very corect about Sony phones. About tv ... moreIt can be hard to do that test by eye. I'm pretty sure Sony or any Japanese TV is more color accurate than Samsung which tends to be saturated tok attract costumers in showrooms.
Btw I've seen pictures too where the pixel had better calibrated whites compared to the s8. My z3c also has a slight blueish tint to it but better than most. The s8 isn't a big improvement except for the new aspect ratio

But i see Samsung have bad blue tint white calibration screens on even highest prices tv. Different thing is for LG tv they have good calibration. I think also would be good white point calibration for Sharp Sony Panasonic tv. They keep high quality all time. Well LG G6 and Sony XZ Premium screens still aren't tested. So can say now is S8 good this year. Well if calibration is good not only on this unit because even same models screens calibration can be difference. So if Samsung did this good job with calibration and realease in market like in this screen test would be nice just excellent rezults. Preview demo versions screens white color point calibration was not good and very variate in same S8 S8+ models. So released phones will show all true. So also in these calibration test not specified screen rezolution HD+ FHD+ QHD+. Also question rises that every iPhones generation screen white point calibration test are are worse nor every generation Samsung S models. But I well see that iPhones every year have better calibrated white screen color point. With naked eye. Best and easiest test for everyone. Just take fully white paper and comapre phone screen calibration white color point for your phone screen comparing side by side with opened full white wallpaper in phone screen. Thats it.

yeah im not gonna believe this. If you export pictures from your phoen to a calibrated pc you will see samsung is more innacurate.
also, for those bashing Sony people dont realize they have the best LCD screens and tvs in the world. JDI is ahead of any other in LCD

Whatever minuscule profits it is getting from mobile division alone isn't enough for their survival. Samsung is just as big a company as Sony. It has got many more profitable ventures now than Sony. Last years profit for Samsung from mobile division is lot more than what Sony managed to get whole year. If not for the Z5 and XZ, Sony would have been in bigger trouble in this segment.

I'm sure others can duplicate the tests and get similar results.

I don't know how many more stagnant quarters they can take or how much more money they can keep pumping into it. As for Samsung they're too smart and resource heavy to ever fail unless they stop being receptive to what the people want, as of right now they know that the future trend will be bezel-less phones just like they predicted edge screens would become more popular and they have.

Samsung, when fail, means total fail. Sony, on the other hand, when fail, they do their best to step up.

You don't have a tv, only your laptop and the vr setup on the phone. Not using vr doesn't really use that much power, you are right in that. But as soon you put on the glasses, it drains power like having diarrhea. If sammy at least put a 4000+ battery in it. And the s7 edge would have lost about 8% with your usage. Note 7 was badly made too. Sammy is focusing a lot more design than logically, just like Apple. But a lot of people watch movies or series a lot longer than the battery can last.
