Millions of people around the world use Twitter to see what’s happening right now. However, there are several barriers to using Twitter, including slow mobile networks, expensive data plans, or lack of storage on mobile devices. While smartphone adoption grew to 3.8 billion connections by the end of 2016, 45% of mobile connections are still on slower 2G networks

please do not dismiss this move by twitter. android uses tons of space on a mobile phone for apps today. thinking about facebook, facebook messenger and twitter itself, you've immediately lost half a gig of space on your smartphone. with a mobile version of some apps, you can still have a lot of functionality (since you already have a browser) and can minimize space used. not everyone needs all the features and apps and doesn't use data as much. twitter notifies you too, so it's an always on and data hungry bog if you're using the app. so turning all off basically removes the sense of having that app. if i occasionally check tweets, then i can use the browser and don't need an app.

It's silly..just lauch a app for it. Going Tru website actually takes more data depending on which browser you use like Google Chrome eats lots of data.

I seriously dont understand those "mobile friendly" versions.
If you can reduce useless data consumption... why dont you do that in proper version of app?
Because right now those apps show clearly that original apps are bad made, and consume some data that are not related to usage of app it self.

Its like company made a car that consume 12 liters per 100km... and then they release the same car with the same engine and features... that consume only 6 liters per 100km...
