Anonymous, 07 Apr 2017yes look close, see pixels UHD screen, no pixelsLol how ridiculous. So I guess you only look at your own pictures on your own phone? You never share photos with others who might look at them with screens that are higher than 1080p? How sad...
And like you said, you'd only be able to see a difference if looked really closely, which is totally irrelevant since when do you use your phone right up against your face other than for VR headsets? For most cases, 1080p is all you'd need and it saves on battery life. Higher resolutions are only for the morons who like to compare big numbers like cavemen.

AnonD-402029, 10 Apr 2017not everyone want to root/change rom their phone for specif... moreI had Mi3 redmi note 3 mtk redmi note 3g (first redmi note phone) and Redmi pro... Ui is just well equiped if you or mom or dad aunt or whoever know english... when you unlock dev options in security app you have to allow factory root permision so you will not lose any privacy or void warianty so ... but ye that can be anoying ... it takes 2-3h to learn how to do what you want but u save 100$ minimum ... Mi6 vs XZs 450$ difference... so few hours of annoying work actually worth it :D

It doesn't matter if Exynos is faster if it comes inside a 700$ phone as SD 835 comes in a 300$ dollar phone and above.

ED THE GREAT, 08 Apr 2017I hope xiaomi will make a dust and water resistant mi6 or m... more4GB is low for flagship level. It's what they had last year. Apart from that I agree for the rest.

I would add removable storage and battery but Xiaomi will *never* do any of those so no reason to expect them.

Hudinited, 08 Apr 2017Actually for that u have xposed or custom roms ... 290$ for... morenot everyone want to root/change rom their phone for specific reason, security etc. their momma and daddy and aunty and grandma also dont know how to install xposed etc. so a well equipped UI is important for most of the consumer. and this is xiaomi, newer phone is very annoying just to unlock the bootloader. it took me 11 days just to wait a reply from xiaomi to unlock my previous (sold already) redmi note 3 bootloader and some of them failed to unlock it.

                    Hi there,

As the current owner of the mi5s Plus, here's what I can say to those not liking MIUI.
It's really simple : on MIUI 8 (MM powered) just install another launcher, unlock your bootloader, install TWRP, root the device, install XPOsed and some modules and you won't even notice you're not running a custom ROM but the horrible MIUI Stock anymore !

Apart from that, the mi6 with the specs looks like a killer. But don't be fooled ! The price announced is the price without any VAT applied and without what the reseller will charge. So I'd expect it to be like 375 USD when it appears on Ali or GearB.

                    Regards.

ED THE GREAT, 08 Apr 2017I hope xiaomi will make a dust and water resistant mi6 or m... moreWow, despite ur name, ur comments says otherwise, dude...

-) For Water/Dust proof, manufacturer need to implement "IP code, International Protection Marking". In doing so, they must invest A LOT of money in research & development, as well as design of the phone and so on. Do u EVER see a CHEAP smartphone with IP58 (for example) sold? NO ONE believes a manufacturer who claimed to made a water/dust proof WITHOUT IP58; the same as NO ONE believes a manufacturer who claimed to added a protection layer in their display without mentioning Dinorex / Gorilla Glass.

-) Earphone out-of-the-box in Xiaomi smartphone? KEEP DREAMING...
Even their most expensive Mi Mix doesn't come with earphone out-ofthe-box.
If separate earphone is what u meant, Xiaomi already have it, called "Piston series". The recent ones actually really comes with really good sound quality for their asking price.

BTW, U r really NOOBS if u wished for FREE earphone instead of better DAC, since better DAC makes the sound output of both loudspeaker, speaker active, and earphone attached becomes WAY, WAY better.

-) Better camera is OFTEN used in newer Mi phones, BUT adding OIS means additional costs, so if the target production cost of the phone is limited, there is NO WAY they can add OIS, let alone the new 4-axis ones, to the phone.
FYI, the most expensive part of flagship phone is display, UFS storage, LPDDR4 RAM, camera sensors, chipset, & DAC.

BTW, since u r NOOBS, I'll tell u this: bigger pixel camera doesn't mean BETTER camera.
A REALLY good camera have bigger aperture (f/1.8 is the best), bigger pixel size (2 µm in ultrapixel is the best), sensor size, and so on. As long as the chipset supports, 4K recording is possible.

-) Design taste for EVERYONE is GREATLY differs. For me, as ex Mi5 users, Mi5 design is quite good. The only drawback in Mi5 case is its thin chassis, that's why the standard Mi5 chassis can be bend easily (The ceramic edition won't bend).

-) Flagship Snapdragon SoC, except 808 & 810, are better than most SoC available. As lon as they are equipped with adequate RAM & RAM-efficient OS, even 2GB RAM will be ok (as MIUI is unfortunately RAM-hogging OS, having 2GB RAM for flagship device is suicide, that's why Mi5 series comes with 3GB (base version)).

-) Corning Gorilla Glass HAVE NOTHING TO DO with how many ppi or nits a display have!
Moreover Gorilla Glass is no better than Dragontail, Dinorex, Xensation, & Panda King glass which are WAY cheaper but not well-known.

ppi stands for PIXEL per INCH: it depends on how many inch & what resolution the manufacturer choose to equip the phone.
e.g. 5 inch display with 1080p resolution will result in 441 ppi pixel density,
5.5 inch display with 1080p resolution will result in 403 ppi pixel density.

nits have to do with how many backlighting LEDs in the LCD display. Higher nits needs many LEDs, and higher brightness means shorter battery life!

WHAT makes a LCD display a good display is how deep the black color in the display & how close the average color rendition to DeltaE 3.

e.g AMOLED has 0 cd/m2 black (TRULY jet black), even with lower nits for white, the contrast ratio of AMOLED display is ∞, unmatched by ANY LCD panel.
e.g Mi5 average color rendition is DeltaE 3.2, this means the LCD display panel chosen by Xiaomi is truly the best among the best.

And there are very few smartphones that record 4K in both front & rear cameras. Combined with 6GB RAM, 128GB storage and that price, it does make for meaty specs!
