Most guys here even don't understand what a better algorithm should be. Maybe it is due to that they've never viewed a photo on devices other than small mobile phone display.

The lowlight shot from the iphone 7 still looks better??..and the camera sensor are supply by sony. I hope the xperia will improve the simplicity of their camera apps to take better shot.

[deleted post]You obviously don't get the point....let me help you...with this review is shows how pathetic the sony camera really is in low light...so the last bit of hope the fanboys have is to run to dxo to dry their tears and to find some comfort. Fact remains, the detail lost in the photos can never be recovered (saturation on the other hand, is easily added in post), dismal performance by sony that can't be forgiven.

LG G4 with 1.8f/stop is still a beast. 2Years old now and still will shoot better than the newest Sony.
All phones that use Sony camera sensors seem to do a better job than Sony with their software; odd for years now.

As predicted, fanboys running towards DXO scores (of course we know their "reputation" haha) and of course deny what their eyes are really seeing in this test...going purely on saturation (which is easy to adjust in post), but yet the detail is lost forever. Oil paint much.

You are absolutely right about the beautiful world of Samsung; especially the recent patent infringement on huawei and the arrest of ceo in South korea, lol. I guess some people turn a blind eye to a company's ditry secret and corruption.

[deleted post]If they dont like the results, they tell dxo is crap, "but look here in arenas rev"
Now fact is, they can get away with automode samples, those even if very good also are too high on ISO and low on LE level for faster shutter in lowlight, "the ease of use", producing more noisy shots on pixelpeep.
but now if they look here at these manual samples from Xperia, they have to keep their twats closed, even while pixelpeeping:
as there is no noise, ISO is well controled, LE level balanced, so much detail preserved due to higher mpx sensor, and colors so punchy and true.
Really magnificent sensor performance in low light here...
Sadly dxo tests only automode too, but even with that Sony comes out top or among top

[deleted post]Mmmm, nah, whatever device you mean, it cant get better detail and color than this in lowlight, its the megapixels and rgb sensor coming to help.
Well, maybe my X Perform could come close, but I ll have to try it out.
Anyways, youre full of it....
Enjoy whatever you have, but leave best lowlight photography to XZs and XZ Prem 19 mpx imx400 owners...

Only geeks care about DxOMark scores etc. The only things that matter for most consumers are:
1. Fast camera start-up and photo capture
2. Ease of UI and taking of good pictures
3. Clarity of pictures
4. Good low light performance
That's why Sony still lags behind the iPhone, Samsung and the Pixel. Consumers don't give a damn about fiddling with settings to get a great photo. Plus it's slow to capture photos. Sony might make great sensors but its own camera software is poorly designed.

Ah look at these people. When Sony wins the speed test, they don't visit the site, but rather go to this site. Typical, lol

Right, XZs isn't the best low light shooter. Let's see if other phones can actually beat full frame sensor cameras. No? So what's the point of good low light camera phones when a cheap $200 full frame camera would easily destroy it?
I'm just kidding. Best cameras only need practice of using, just like how you could end up with undesirable photos from full frame high end digital cameras. Best tip is to use Manual Mode but keep the settings in Auto, because in Sony's Manual, you get that better image processing for the same settings.
In the Xperia XZ days, people complained for too aggressive noise reduction that resulted to the loss of detail. Now they stopped the aggressive noise reduction and now introduced the noise for way better details - people complain again. If telling them to use the camera first to help them understand what they're talking about wouldn't work, I just don't know what

[deleted post]Hmmm. Then I wonder what testing benchmark photographers are looking for when looking for a digital camera.
I guess they really go to GSMArena huh?
