My first encounter with Vista was less painful that the other's, especially since I bought a new computer with enough hardware for it. Vista wasn't that bad with an Core i7 and a dedicated Radeon HD with DX10.1 graphics card. But I had a free upgrade to 7 thanks to a promotion offering 7 to all new Vista machines. Then came the free Windows 10.

That sad moment when you come to know that next to be shot down is Windows 7.

Annoying UAC prompt, slow boot-up/shutdown incompatible device drivers installed are just one of the few complaints I can name now but I like its sidebar desktop gadgets.

I'm not sure whether my first or my second laptop came with Windows Vista but it worked well enough for me. I used XP on my desktop till it was discontinued and by then my PC was already at least 10 years old. My PC became obsolete so only using laptops now.

i think the general majority has laid it to rest long ago, ha
i only ever saw Vista on a friend's PC, personally. and the only things i remember from it were the aggressive UAC parenting your every move and the sidebar with its widgets. the sidebar actually seemed kinda neat at the time... widgets never really took off, though, did they? used a few early in Windows 7, mainly for hardware monitoring purposes, but ultimately abandoned them in favor of better options.
also didn't Vista bluescreen during one of Microsoft's presentations back then?

I though that was already laid off and sad not because was a good OS, just because that remains me how old I am know. Start using Windows 95 and now 10.
