You're not using a Windows machine, don't treat it like one. Windows machines are garbage with 1980s thinking embedded -still- on them. Don't bring their logic here. No serious OS uses ram like that for 30 years now.

It's less about lag (framedrops while browsing) and more about speed (less waiting time). The difference between a 2GB and a 4GB phone is huge in day to day usage.
Google blew it by only adding 2GB to Nexus 5x, they basically rendered it almost useless from the start, I tried to stop people from buying it, they wouldn't listen and they are now compaining for how "slow" their phone is (I mean , duh, ram is the most important thing on Androids, more important than SoC; you cheapened out to the worst thing possible).

On android the more Ram you have the faster your phone is no matter the amount. Of course it depends if your OS kills background apps religiously you'd get less benefit but even then you get some.
That's because of RAM caching. Basically every time you open an app some of its most frequently assets are migrated to ram. Use your phone long enough and have a big enough ram and most of your system would be uploaded on ram, practically running on a ram disk for all intends and purposes. *That's* what a phone with higher ram is *always* faster even if you are a light user.
The opposite is true too, the more your ram starts dwindling the more your phone's "OOM manager" boots assets from ram. Which is (also) why you're never out of ram even if you have just 1GB.
Basically the only effect of ram is modulating the responsiveness of your phone. The more you have the faster it is, the less you have the less responsive it is. Nothing to do with multiple chrome tabs, or multiple open tabs. This is not Windows, Windows' way oF doing things is a dying breed and should not be referred here.

This proves that modular phones are possible.. Someone just need to make a socket for every chip on the board instead of soldering everything and the users can add or change the chips for upgrade

The amount of RAM is due to ghe fact apps are becoming more and more demaning. I am not an apple hater. But if you ask such a question I assume you own an iPhone? (Also, I remind you that if it's the case. IPad pro 12.9 version has 4 GB Of ram too. Why is THAT not weird?)

That's really cool. It takes a lot of skill and (more importantly), a high end soldering station (PRC2000 is almost $6k) to remove SMT's this small without damaging the leads or otherwise damaging the board.
Then you cross your fingers, hope it boots, and load CopperheadOS.
