To do that just make the aspect ratio a bit wider (say 15:9 instead of 16:9), basically the opposite than what LG/Samsung did. That way you retain the same useful width as before + a tiny bit more of the edge "bezels"

Great price! I always wanted a phone that ripped off the design of my BlackBerry Z30. Add a carbon fiber sticker to the back and this is it!

This is also why I got a Pixel after a month because it got a 7/10 or same as the latest iPhones. The internals are modular. While Samsung edge phones score poorly.
And yes, this is better than the G6. The G6 is the late-2016 flat version of the S8 The S8 and G6' weird aspect ratio and its misleading marketing terms is going to annoy so many people in the longer run. G5 is like the S5 and Note 4 for LG.
It took content creators about 15 years for TV studios to adopt to 16:9 after 4:3. How long will it take them this time to cater to some 18.5:9 Infinity Display? As well as having a narrower keyboard for typing? Both flagships are catered to ignorant hipsters.
LG G5 is the best phone I have ever owned followed closely by the more fluid UI from the Pixel. My S7e is still behind both. My 3-year old Mi 3 performs smoother and much easier to type on than the S7e.
G5 is love. G5 is life. Life's Good flying high with the G5, baby.

For an LG is the least buggy phone, especially since the solutions are so easy.

Better than G6.
Basically the same hardware, less retarded aspect ratio, bigger screen for 16:9 content, arguaby better cameras and removable battery (which basically means far better battery since it allows to carry a spare).
Oh and less than half price than G6. What's not to love?

I don't know if i should recommend this phone or not. my LG g5 lags while playing games (Subway Surfers) and the UI is kinda laggy (opening app drawer, expending notifications, scrolling). it does have a removable battery though.

I got mines cheaper. I bought three; kept one, sold another for $100 profit, and traded in the last one. I love my G5. It is Sprint which I know is terrible but my FM radio is disabled whilw other networks aren't and for some reason the unlocked ones don't get the software update as fast as the carrier branded ones.
$300? Too high. I see some sell it for practically mint on Craigslist for $230. The Honor 8 at $240 is a better deal although I believe the G5 is the better phone. I have a $100 discount from Best Buy I can use and then price match Newegg so it totals to $140+ but I'm like nah. My S7 edge for $130 off a G5 trade-in is still better thanks to water-resistance, longer battery life, and VR.
Honor 8 probably runs smoother than the S7e 820 variant though. Avoid Samsung if you want a smooth software experience.
