Looks like the Note 8 is going to bring the fireworks on! (I meant that in a good metaphorical way).

Wondering who will Samsung follow with its dual-camera setup. LG with a wideangle lens, Apple with a telephoto lens or Huawei with monochrome sensor.

The point with manual is if the condition doesn't allow for a decent photo to be taken, the higher ISO and lower shutter speed let you capture something. What's the point of having a phone u take out and shoot pitch black then upload black photos all over the place.

Come on GSMarena, can't you tell it's clearly a fake pic. Look closely at the camera, the edges of it are not a smooth elliptical shape. Its very easy to spot buy just zooming in to the picture.

I own huawei P9 and thanks to the dual camera almost all of my image taken produce were satisfying, less noice, can hardly see noise when i'm taking photos of the moon including in low light and ISO is much better and can be set higher compare to other mobile. So I'll support the dual camera trend to any other brand as long as they can improve it to become better not only for gimmick.

Second pic is a dummy.. besides they would not need to build an s8 to develop and test those stuff

i take the phone out .. i shot the photo.. and i expect a standard photo as a phone can do . .. you take your phone out and say "wait a minute i have to do some manual settings for a better photo.. ?how about 3 cameras.. or how about 4 ? why stop at 2 ? you need 1 dedicated camera for monochrome effect ? ? open photoshop.... some nice wide angle photos ? right.... u guys suffer of that effect.. my phone is so awesome look how profesional i can go with my phone..! but at the end.. if you do a pic.. best is to take your phone out.. press a button and that`s it.. the more time you spend on settings for the camera the more stupid it is.

Well, the article said it all, most probably that's what happened. Now let's hope that they will make them right in the Note8. With the dual rear camera setup and the fingerprint under/in the display, it will be better, different & more trendy than the S8. In addition, let's hope as well, that finally, after all these years of Galaxy S and Note flagships skipping on include a Dual Stereo Speakers, let's hope that they will finally incorporate them in the Note8. What's more, hopefully a 6GB RAM as standard too.

AnonD-152638, 18 Apr 2017In order for the makers, to fit a larger sensor behind the ... moreIt is simple, really. If you can fit two small lenses, it means you could have installed a bigger sensor. If you take the Galaxy series, their sensors have been getting bigger with each year until the S8 came out. Yet, the phones were not getting any thicker until the S7 (to remove the camera hump and fit a bigger battery, nobody complained).

Nokia 808 and 1020 had almost a one inch sensor in them. Sure, they were thicker, but the sensor was gigantic, orders of magnitude bigger than the mainstream smartphone camera sensors. There's nothing preventing smartphone makers to fit a 1/2' sensor, for instance, in a body the size of the Galaxy S7 or S8.

That is how S8/+ would have been if Synaptics had brains, and not bought by Apple.

Most people don't want to make that compromise. And makers, almost never target nische markets for long.

I don't see why anyone that wants better performance from the camera in their mobiles, would have issues with dual camera.
They are used in various of ways, in some cases to give optical zooming capabilities.
They can be used to average out noise, for better ISO performance.
Or they can be used like on the Huaweis, to put a pretty good black and qhite sensor for added creativity.
When does dual cameras work against image quality?
Most professional photographers carries multiple cameras with them.
