ARM CPUs:
first batch "only some parts are actually 10nm, arguably, but really its mostly 14nm and 16nm"
second batch "more parts are"
third batch "lets do the same for 8nm"
Intel CPUs:
all transistors are actually 14nm when we say it is.
I know, it's not cool to say something good about Intel, but at least they don't trick you on basic stuff like that.

As you can see, the Exynos 8890 is more than 15% faster in single core and 50% faster in multi-core performance. Don't believe everything you hear online.

Exynos S7 also crushes the OP3 in battery life.

At this point SoC is not that important in day to day performance. Very rarely SoCs use peak performance at this point. I think the threshold was passed 2-3 years ago. At this point it's nand speed and ram caching, a bit of how a PC gets much faster (these days) if you buy an SSD than if you from an i5 to an i7.
OnePlus is faster mostly because it stores more in RAM and therefore it's far faster to recall those than the phones using the nand more (Samsung phones). Hence why Oneplus phones are quite faster.

Best thing manufacturers can do now is to reduce their cores and use that space to make custom cores, but instead of making more cores, they should make bigger cores based on the A73-successor
