To compare apples and apples (pun intended) the GST and duties has to be deducted from price.
GST is small - 6%, I didn't found how much duties on imported iPhone are, but they could be substantial.

Still too high for an obsolete device that suffers app and browser reloads with only 1GB DRAM.

If you live in the United States, check SlickDeals.

$150 at Walmart. Been going on for a few days. Only 16gb and no contract. Most already ran out of the stock though. Rather get the 6s anyway for the extra gig of RAM and better front camera than the SE. Feels gentler to hold too than the SE.
LOL at $380. Only 1 gig of RAM and from three years ago. I got G5 and S7 edge combined for that same price. The rest of the world is getting ripped off by manufacturers. No wonder they turn to Xiaomi and OnePlus for value.
Americans just take it for granted because iPhones are cheaper here. I lived in the Philippines for five years and am aware the high prices for phones. For people who want flagships for cheaper prices, find a friend or relative in the US and let them buy it for you.
These aren't really discounts to me. Finding good prices on good quality phones in the US is finding hot women in a gay bar. Like shooting fish in a barrel.

And when Apple does a price cut for a three year old device with only 1gb of RAM, that means it will still cost the same price as a superior device like the OnePlus 3.
LOL @ Apple discounts for old devices. Good luck paying close to $400 for Touch Disease.
