BigMillions, 25 Apr 2017It will not go for cheap. That $5 billion loss must be reco... moreDude, some reality is needed here:-
1. Forget the $5 billion loss. Note 7 will sell only by the price people will pay realistically. Its last year's hardware, and won't be that expensive.
Because even today as an end user, while purchasing you might have a fear of explosion or burning. I know it should not explode, but the fear.... is a .... factor.
Plus, they'll recover most of the loss, because the devices are often about 35% of the final price. Rest all goes in R&D, staff salaries, marketing, etc... I hope you understand.
2. Regarding your comment on note 7 outselling S8, I guess not. Samsung strongly backs the S8 and its available in a whole lot of markets. While Note 7 refurb will be available in selected few countries... This automatically means that Note 7 shall sell lesser.
Plus, remember that S8 will continue to be produced while Note 7 is out of production.
I'm in India, keeping an eye out for a Note 7 launch, if it happens. Just for price reasons.

BigMillions, 25 Apr 2017It will not go for cheap. That $5 billion loss must be reco... moreThe 5 billion dollar of lost cannot be fixed anyways, but it can be reduced to sell them again. Besides, it will be both better for samsung to reduce the loss, as well as it will be for the environment altough even if they won't sell these phones again they can always recycle them.

AnonD-234961, 24 Apr 2017What a joke :) It will probably be more expensive or equal ... moreRefurbished cannot be sold for the price closely matching new flagship without blemish! There is no antiquity factor in mobile phones. Remember, within few months Note 8 is expected. BTW, Samsung has already written-off Note 7 in their books (yet, made a significant profit). It is more like stock clearing and most likely you may not find good support (software or service). This is like a throwaway piece and you will not see them getting manufactured new...Even single dollar they make out of this will add to their earnings...No point in keeping the million inventory competing with flagship! People going for S8 and S8+ will any way goes for the latest, greatest stuff...

How can a refurbished failed product WITH last year's hardware to be priced as much as the latest and greatest products!? Lol Not to mention the S8 (not even the S8+) already has bigger screen with the latest improvements (HDR10, record breaking sunlight legibility, etc)!
Dont be crazy here, please.

RaghavaZ, 25 Apr 2017Samsung sold 2.5 million Note7 by the time recall happened ... more2.5 million were sold and replaced. So in total it should be around 5 million units. If you combine the components that were in invetory awaiting to be assembled, the number could reach 10 million. So they will be in plenty and this thing will be expensive as the original one. Expect anything above the $700

This thing will outsell the S8. Watch for this space. If it comes at the same time as OnePlus 5, then I'm going for this thing.

I really don't mind it if they increased the size a little bit as long as they keep the same battery. The battery what caused the problem and I strongly believe that it can give the remedy too .

Perhaps those who are anti Samsung are desperately trying to resurrect the N7 fiasco by focusing in on a possible refurbished N7.
Weird we certainly won't see them in the Western World anyway.
