Anonymous, 08 Apr 2011But there is NO comparison between OSes in this article. Wh... moreAlso, assuming the rate of Android activation increases linearly, averaging the number of devices shipped per day (300k as of Dec'10), we arrive at about 130m Android devices sold to date (150k x 30 days x 29 months). That means Android achieved 120m devices ~27 months after it first started selling (again, assuming linearity). iOS took almost 1.5x longer (announced on Sept'10, 38 months from the release of the iPhone)
Using that average number of devices sold per day for Android (150k, the real world figure should be a little higher), we can extrapolate that the total number of Android devices sold to date would be ~200m, which is probably equal or a little less than the total number of iOS devices sold to date (Given the 160m Jan figure). Considering that iOS had a 16 months headstart, I'd say Android is doing pretty damned well.

AnonD-977, 05 Apr 2011All the comparisons are between Android (including tablets)... moreBut there is NO comparison between OSes in this article. Why even bring it up at all?
And I don't know how accurate this is, but here it says 100k Xooms, so your guess isn't that far off: http://www.businessinsider.com/motorola-xoom-sales-2011-4
And unless Apple has published any data about the number of ACTIVE iOS devices, it's impossible to compare marketshare because I'm guessing that probably 90% of the original iPhone/iPod Touch are gone?

AnonD-3713, 06 Apr 2011You know what is REALLY amazing? Every Nokia article got mo... moreI would love to correct that. What is REALLY amazing, is that despite so much attention on Nokia, they have been losing market share rapidly. As to what type of attention they got, im not bothered to find out.
If you have nothing to comment about the Google report, i suggest you not to post.

Yet Another Android, 04 Apr 2011Amazing that there are no Nokia or Symbian fans bashing And... moreYou know what is REALLY amazing? Every Nokia article got more than 150 comments, other articles are just 20 or 30 comments. Even if some people don't like Nokia, they simply love to give it attention, more than for their own beloved plataforms. lol

Android OS is a good platform. But it's not user-friendly. I think it's beneficial only to young people who needs mega ultimate superb mobile entertainment! Haha. Still, Symbian and iOS are the easy to use ones for everyday tasks.

Anonymous, 05 Apr 2011If you had bothered to actually read and comprehend the art... moreAll the comparisons are between Android (including tablets) and iPhones.
Including ALL iOS devices (iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch) and the number of iOS devices almost doubles.
Dividing the number of Android devices counted in this survey by 500 would tell us roughly how many Xooms sold.
Say it's 40 million, that would mean 80,000 Xooms.

What does Nokia threads got to do with you? What does Android threads got to do with you? Why are you even affected? Do you own Nokia or Google??

Anonymous, 04 Apr 2011hehehe... sorry but this kind of article is totally bullshi... morethe article does bring up a very valid point tho
and that is that we always compare android to the iphone and that IS unfair. that like comparing the iOS to the nexus s.
surely shouldnt ppl compare the OS's not an OS vs a phone
it would be interesting to see how many users have an iOS device and how many have android devices

AnonD-977, 05 Apr 2011So, seeing as how this article mentions Honeycomb and table... moreIf you had bothered to actually read and comprehend the article, you would know that 0.2% was referring to 0.2% of the Android userbase.
And what does this article even have to do with comparisons between Android and iOS? It is CLEARLY comparing the growth of different versions of the OS WITHIN Android. With or without tablet statistics, Android's growth over the past year kicks Apple's ass. So like it or not, Android IS "winning".

To conclude, Froyo is probably reaching its PEAK (not peek) point and we will probably see its market share even out for a while, before it eventually gets transferred to Gingerbread and Honeycomb.
Did someone read over this article before posting it?

Anonymous, 04 Apr 2011hehehe... sorry but this kind of article is totally bullshi... moreSo, seeing as how this article mentions Honeycomb and tablets, is it ok to start including iPads in sales comparisons with Android?
Or will it remain business as usual with Android vs iPhone being used to show Android is "winning".
Fifteen million iPads would take Android down a peg or two.
0.2% Xooms, 0.2% of what?
Looks like Motorola haven't sold very many.

What's the point of a market share research inside the own Android ecosystem? The only thing Google is showing how fragmented this crap OS is. Android is such a stupid OS, its developers are so experienced that all the interface is Java-based that destroys CPU and battery power, the result is a bunch of mid-end and even high-end phones running laggy, with 600 or even 800Mhz CPU lol That's why this thing will never be as fast as iOS, maybe only dual-core phones can run this thing smoothly...
