This doesn't sound too bad since you can simply upgrade to windows 10 pro for free... or for 49 bucks... At Least Microsoft gives you options unlike most other companies...

Didn't Microsoft do something like this before when windows 7 came out? They were then sued by google and lost due to the Anti-Monopoly laws.

As a student, this isn't convenient, especially if I have to open a new tab to make a search on Google or type google.com and then type what I am looking for. Are we going to see the reborn of the Google Toolbar?

The Microsoft Edge default doesn't bother me too much since both Chrome OS and iOS force you to have Chrome and Safari respectively but only being able search using Bing is taking it way too far, at least Google and Apple let you change the default search.

I think Google does better for searching things like Forums. But in general they are both pretty much on par for typical searches. I think it has gotten better due to windows 10 as more people use it.
