Apple now king of wearables, main competitors decline

The Hermes version of this watch really looks good and elegant because of the leather band . The Apple bands look cheap and not very classy. My only take on the Apple watch 2 Hermes version is that the watch is not swiss made ( the price is to expensive for a none swiss watch). The swiss are known to create very good quality watches. But I guess the Swiss are not into Smart watches yet.. The Hermes version comes with an exculsive watch face which is very elegant to look at.. This version of the Apple watch is not for everyone because of the price..

Anonymous, 06 May 2017Not so essential product. You probably don't even own a samsung product as you claim. I have a gear s3 i love it it.
People look at it and don't even realise it is a smartwatch. You can change straps to match your outfit when necessary. once you own one you will realise how beautiful it is. There is no samsung written on it. Are you ashamed of carry an S8 just because your dishwasher has the same name?

"Apple now king of wearables, main competitors decline". PRETTY EXCESSIVE given the fact that it is only about tenths of a percent!

I personally use Fitbit Alta while my Moto 360 and Asus Zenwatch lays at one corner of my house. Not willing to buy another watch Apple or non-Apple, since neither of them provide a fitness platform as rich as Fitbit.

AnonD-491921, 05 May 2017Its sad to see pebble and Samsung smartwatches fail Pebble may be the first to bring a smartwatch but when the big brands started to make smart watches they didn't up the game. Their build quality is sooo poor, casing gets easily scratched without any effort and buttons aren't tactile enough and these make it not worthy of 10k price it demanded in India. I bought it at 4k during a sale in Amazon, which still is too much for the build quality it has. Even Asus' offerings in the same price range looked lot better than these. Software only saving grace for these. Wearables are just a fashion statement these days and those who look better will sell more, where Apple's watch shines and as an added bonus it got nice OS also. Apple watch looks lot better than Pebble design and build quality wise and thus sells more. Pebble just looks like a toy watch.

AnonD-547716, 06 May 2017No surprise here. Most people who use these wearables do it... moreAt my running club, there are a lot of high end Garmin watches (the apple watch would probably do what they need at a lower cost ).
At the Gym I see more apple watches and cheaper activity trackers ( fitbit ).
Don't know many of the yoga crowd (seems to be an activity for middle aged women)

actually the wearables market is itself in a slight decline because of the saturation - and in case of others, waiting for better tech. apple is 'up' simply because because of apple user adoptions, that's all. that market too will get saturated in a while.

No surprise here. Most people who use these wearables do it for something silly like making a fashion statement or keeping up with the clique. From my personal experience, I dont see the athletic types (marathon, cycling, gymming oriented, etc) or the yoga crowd use health trackers much, if at all. Most of those who do use fitness trackers are the kind who...count steps. Or use it since it came as a gift or buy it for gimmicky purposes. Fitbit's stocks have been tumbling for dog's years now since the fad did not catch on. Xiaomi et al provide a cheaper alternative for such products, so they still got some scope for sales until the "branded" guys dont lower their prices to match them. Apple wearables is only for the silly iCrowd who will most possibly purchase an actual cent for an actual dollar if Apple is the one who is selling it.

Despite the Gear S2/S3 being the most critically-acclaimed smartwatch(es), they are nowhere to be seen in this report.....
