IDC: Apple leads as tablet shipments shrink 8.5% in Q1 2017

Phablets are on the rise, and since they come with large displays. Not to mention some Android phablets give you multitasking, and multiple windows, or split screens. Plus Android and iPhone's have vast app ecosystems. So it makes total sense that more people are using their phablets instead of their tablets.

      Huawei tablets are on par with anything samsung has at the same price...

      Huawei also sell their tablets in the UK and are doing well too. So the China arguement is nul.

        Also Tab S3 is not better than MediaPad M3 in specs. It's just twice priced.

        So lies through and through.
        No wonder Samsung does not sell when faced with the Chinese competition.

              The Galaxy Tab S2 or S3 trumps any Huawei tablet easily.

                Apple and Huawei are the only companies taking the tablet market serious. Samsung just sells cheap old tablets and an overpriced S3 tab.

                  Apple doesn't sell as much tablets because the ones it did are so good that people keep them for a long time. No need to upgrade if your requirements are met already.

                    I hope the Galaxy Tab S3 and future flagship Android tablets will change this trend.

                      The last functional tablet I purchased is the Galaxy Note Pro 12.2. I consider every other (non windows) tablet absolutely pointless and a waste of money.

                        Actually OEMs have delivered those long time ago, and yes people hunger for good tablets and many have them already.

                        OEMs can't do much to improve these, it's very hard for me to think the thing which would make me upgrade my iPad Air. I might do it this year because just want something new. But i could easily go with this propably 1-2 years still.

                          People don't upgrade iPad as frequently as iPhone, so results displaying decline might be normal. But with new iPad 2017 Apple is trying to get budget class people to upgrade to iPads. Hoping to see results will show increase in iPad sales

                              Easy for a market to shrink if every OEM has conspired to abandon it.

                              The one company that didn't (Huawei Mediapads) actually sells brilliantly and better than last year. Basically proving my hypothesis. People hunger for good tablets, the OEMs just refuse to deliver , they feed customers old specs and because customers are not fools , they simply choose to not buy.
