Bezels n... moreBut those top and bottom bezels in this particular device aren't because of the speakers obviously, look how tiny they are and more, Sony speakers may be front facing and stereo but they aren't that good, below average loudness, past Motorola phones had really great and loud stereo speakers without needing too large top and bottom bezels.
The design looks good to me tho...

Bezels not only improve the structural integrity of the smartphone but also make place for lots of useful things, such as actually good speakers which instead would have to be placed on the bottom of the bezel-less phone which does not only introduce a structural weakness to the frame of the phone but also the screen because of the increased screen-to-body ratio, bottom-placed speakers have been proven to be objectively worse than bezel-placed speakers too.
If anything, bezels are the defining feature of Sony's phone design and they're not going anywhere for a very, very long time.

Sony needs to work on their design. Those bezels are too ugly. We can those areas with extra 1 inch display.
