Maybe it's because it's near stock android with better GPU algorithms.
Gaming performance is amazing as it's the only smartphone at the moment that can play PSP Emulation without lags.

Op3 have the same price like S7 edge in my country. So it is not a clever choice to buy OnePlus phones. OnePlus is not superior(not even in benchmarks) compare with Samsung Smart series phones, but still have big price.

I get 2018 Single-Core and 6756 Multi. Something is wrong with those results. They should be on par. Maybe better for Exynos.

Anonymous, 10 May 2017Your an embarrasment. Your many words can be condensed into... moreWell I'm not a Chinese PR guy (and I don't care for Chinese phones much) but honestly Samsung used to be better than that . Remember S4, only the best hardware of its time. How about Note 3, literally earth shattering firsts (first android with excellent camera, first with 3GB of ram, with Giant removable batt ... etc).

And see Samsung now. Elongated S7 ... and that's it. Same ram, same PPI, only 10% faster processor, same battery. It's like they don't care. And it's not as if they can't upgrade its hardware.

For example they could use 4k monitor, perfect for VR. 6GB or 8GB of ram, perfect for Dex use and less reloads, 4000 mah battery (xiaomi can fit that in similar footprint).

You know , stuff that will actually make the phone both more useful (actually useful desktop or VR) and impressive in account of firsts...

Anonymous, 10 May 2017All that new hardware with horrible aftersalesI find them excellent. When your phone dies you simply buy a new one, you just paid half after all. Much better than paying full price and then having to deal with after sales.

It's cute how Geekbench 4 results of the S8 are compared to Geekbench 4.1 results of the Oneplus 5.
I get 6743 points on my Galaxy S8 (Exynos 8895) in Geekbench 4.1, so the OP 5 doesnt beat it.
Geekbench 4.1 does inflate the scores compared to Geekbench 4.

It seems you may be part of the team who brought this article to light in the first place ...just more Samsung snipers, Oh, you'll have to exuse me, I'm just off to meet millions, trying the S8 for THEMSELVES AND BUYING IT.

Anonymous, 10 May 2017XZ Premium's S835 has one of its cluster clocked to the max... morePeak performance doesn't matter to every day performance anyway. IO speeds and ram management/amount matter much more. Xperia XZ Premium would always be stunted (just 4GB of RAM), no way around it.

I know fanboys would scream on top of their lungs "optimization!!!", but in the image heavy , video heavy period of time we're going through no bit of optimization is going to save you. The facebook app alone can near 1GB of RAM (I have seen it with my own eyes) after particularly heavy browsing, a browser with many tabs + instagram + messenger can well eat out a significant amount of RAM.... which can all be stored in Xperia's paltry 4GB ... but from there on things are getting worse...

If just one person wants a more heavy use, or the day calls for it ... or heck apps/the OS simply becomes more RAM dependent (as they always do after updates) how would your Xperia holdup?

There's no replacement for hardware, the Chinese know it ... heck Samsung used to know it (that's why the 4 year old S4 stands perfectly well when a modern OS is install on it), Sony doesn't, never did, and their phones get old by the dozens ...

Sony is not some Android Jesus, they're the android version of Apple. Working perfectly well at first, but after a few updates it starts slowing down and its paltry hardware catches up with it... it's called planned obsolescence ... that's why I buy Chinese, they don't play by those rules no more. They just put the latest hardware as they should...

OnePlus 1 (the original) is 3 years old and it's probably faster than many new phones. There's a reason, they didn't fool around. They just put the best hardware the time had to offer.

AnonD-352420, 10 May 2017You know that oneplus uses Samsung amoled screens? And that's relevant? If Apple and OnePlus want to use the best panel for a customer thats fine, it doesnt make Samsung or anyone the better phone maker, it means Samsung has more divisions than the other companies and these companies are taking advantage of the supply line. The phone division for Samsung like is different to the manufacturing division like the washing machine one is doesn't make them better or worse as a phone maker having this just cost advantages.

AnonD-215536, 09 May 2017I know that benchmark is pointless, so how oneplus 5 beats ... moreUh huh, you don't have the product with you and yet you are "sure"??! Hilarious, your fanboism is painfully obvious. I have bought and tested plenty of phones as I am the resident geek for my circle of friends and their contacts. The only area Samsung has an appreciable edge is the superior camera software because they do a better job with some sensors that even the original makers of the sensors cant do a half decent job with. Even the so called battery life numbers seen here in reviews are not attained in real world scenarios. In fact from my numerous tests the Oneplus 3T tied the S7 edge in most typical usage scenarios when it comes to battery life. This goes for other phones in the category just the same like the Mi5s Mi 5 Plus. I'll be testing the S8+ soon and then I'll know if its even worth considering over the S7 Edge.

As for aesthetics, screen size, speaker positions yada yada yada are all subjective that can't be measured quantitatively and so no one should take arguments based off of those points any more seriously than they would of a drunk monkey's attempts at playing the drums.

If you aren't fanboying for Samsung then what you are displaying now is buyer's remorse because Oneplus 5 might just end up being a much better phone all round at a cheaper price while you got ripped off by corporate Samsung. This is natural reaction and understandable as we are all human beings after all but don't let that cloud your judgement. Also if you are in that boat and want to blame someone it's not Samsung (news flash: corporations are greedy everywhere), it is YOU the consumer who failed to vote with your wallet ;) So don't fanboy for a any company and bother defend something just because you made the choice to buy it and now would like console your bruised psyche due to your choice. Just saying.
