Xiaomi Mi 6 teardown shows us it's almost waterproof

17 May 2017
What's the difference between "splash proof" and "water resistant"? One unprotected port, as it turns out.

Nice Video. Zack is right, adding new features is infinitely better than removing features. So all manufacturers, please don't remove the 3.5 mm headphone jack in your next smartphones. (I'm looking at you Xiaomi, HTC, Motorola & Apple).

Good Xiaomi. And so hopefully and probably for the next one (Mi 6 Plus).

I purchased one Mi5 pro in June 2016 and this phone suddenly stopped working on December 16 while in New York. Despite large number of mails to AliExpress and Xiaomi no response was received. This phone has huge data and contacts. My business is suffering for last six months and I recommend that it not worth to buy Xiaomi phone.

The S8, G5, and Xperia line has lots of ports and it's water resistant. And here is Mi6 trying to remove the headphone jack and could only make it splash proof. And by the way, the first few Mi flagships are way below the $300 price tag but still it has the flagship specs of comparable phones.

They can't really miss things when they're competing with the last year's flagships like SGS7.

Xiaomi is a good company, the value/price is one of the best but the region restrictions are horrible, so for people who live outside China is a giant mess.
When Xiaomi will finally come to Europe officially with official rom and official european warranty supported by other electronic supermarkets (like Euronics, Media Markt and shit like that) then i will DEFINITLY buy one if it will continue to deliver flagship specs under 500 euros :)

Go xiaomi go. But you could have put in a 3.5mm jack and 150mah less battery. And also, xiaomi, only improve your camera.

Hey! Someone could put a flap on the usb-c like what the early samsung phones had! Or even put a peice thatbcould attach to the bottom of the phone amd ahave a usb that would connect to the usb-c of the phone... And you could make this phone waterproof ! Without spending money on the new one!

This is so ridiculous! What on earth has stopped Xiaomi from putting rubber around the Type-C?!?! Just another thing to add to the Xiaomi's list of shame, after the 1080p 60fps - SloMo 1080p and low-light algorithms.

There we have it. It's waterproof just up to the point whsre they would have to invest some real R&D to get it done.

Xiaomi actually had some compelling offers, their Mix is evolution in the right way (bezel-less without compromising grip, unlike samsung way), but their Mi models are just bad copies of whatever seems hot at the moment.

I guess Mi 6s will have a waterproof rating.
