"The security system that never sleeps"
Does that mean it'll drain our batteries faster?

Nice developments on Android O and Congrats to Android for the 2 billion mark. BTW if any one closely scrutinized that video, they will see all versions of the Android desserts as hidden Easter Eggs! :P

Same story every year. Getting bored with fake promises by tech companies.
Every year Corning launches their stronger glass( by 2 times or more) and in real world shatters with single drop on concrete.
Every year Qualcomm comes with 2 or 3 times better processors with 30-50% efficient than previous one and in real world heats up like frying pan and battery life sucks.
Every year google launches new os with project xyz which works flawless only on their representatives' hand.

More than 90 percent of smartphone users dont care about what android build their device is running on. What they care most are their smooth performance ,better battery life and necessary third party apps but there is a very big but, with every update google promises smoother and more efficient OS but in reality their Ram management is getting worse by every new update. I'm android user since 2010 but in my experience android is getting worse and complicated with every update after Jellybean. Android OS development is now getting much more limited because of monopoly.

Better communication plz like RC, Imessage!!!!

i think that the final frontier is met and we cant add nothing important now, the last two OS were so underwhelming, i completely lost my interest in pixel devices and update circles, as they literaly add nothing.
Battery remains a huge issue, but not because of stanby, which is already stellar, yet they cant do nothing on where it matters. And even on standby, the biggest battery drainer remains google services, will we be abke to stop that, or bixby? i dont think so... And i am very sad to see yet another way to force ads on us through notifications. Notification subscriptions? really? no respect for the end users and more weapons to intrusive companies...

I remember the old days when every cellphone had a different aproach to the features and it was a nightmare to migrate from one device to another. And they were only used for calls and text messages! Now the learning curve when I change my phone is a lot shorter even if I choose a different brand. I sign in with my google account and in a short period of time I already have all my contacts, apps and even pictures in my new device. Android is not perfect and share with Windows the same problems related with running over so many different versions of hardware... But has improved very fast compared to the Microsoft OS.

people should start waking up, all users do is push manufacturers to improve battery and data saving which results in lesser new features and performance issues. the youtube picture and picture is nothing new, I have been using mixerbox for this feature and fire tube for background play

Because, OEM's have to do additional (google's) work.

Lagdroid is the worst operative system I encounter, iOS also, windows also. WTF, before this idiotic operative systems everything was fine. Every brand was having own os and was different and good, reliable. Now when you buy new phone, everything is the same.

No spotlight like feature, no control to what background apps should have access data, no secure folder, no software power button. Very disappointing

piku, 18 May 2017Every year google promise better battery life but i see no ... moreIt's not the UI, it's the ram heavy ART .

Also performance wise Android has obviously improved, androids deteriorate in performance far less down the months.

Arguably battery has improved too, but that's only as long as you don't use apps that cause wake locks which is still a bane on android. Android O finally promises to fix *that*. Drop the kind of operation that lead to a wake lock.

If they are bale to fix that then we will finally have full backgrounding without its inherent issues (low battery mostly).

Google follows the opposite path than Apple. Apple started with a nerfed OS which helped the battery but had few functions outside the nested envrionemnt of an app. Android started with an open OS with terrible battery life. Nowadays they both seeming to be meeting in the middle. Apple has much improved backgrounding , Google attempts to cut off the last remnants of battery leaks and wake locks ...
