            i suppose if only power draw is an issue then an externally powered hub will be better suited, either ways 100W powerdraw on a laptop battery is too much..all this just from the back of my head...will need more reading..hehe

              AMD kind of changed the price of an extremely powerful CPU, there's no reason that they don't change the standard of transfer rates.

                Haha absolutely 100% welcome, and sooner rather than later.

                  Intel is doing this because AMD got too dangerous. And if Thunderbolt 3 gets mainstream it's going to be a win, because AMD won't be able to incorporate it, they will need to make their own open variant like Nvidia's G-Sync and Freesync, and this will take time and money.

                              AnonD-510098, 25 May 2017So Thunderbolt 3 and Type C is the same?Type-C is a form factor. TB3 is a standard that may pass through any capable port, but is right now only on the versatile Type-C.

                                My main question: can one laptop/PC have only one Thunderbolt 3 port? Or can I have 2, for example? It would be great to have two ports, for example, so that I could connect an external graphics card via dedicated port for maximum performance (nvidia gtx 1080 ti definitely needs a dedicated port, for example) and charge the laptop + connect all peripherals (mouse, keyboard, gamepad, storage) using a separate connector.

                                One port is never enough if you're a demanding user.

                                  I got a crazy awesome idea, that just might work;

                                  Thunderbolt 3, but on a smartphone, no, every smartphone!
