Anonymous, 01 Jun 2017Can people who make such bone headed comments name me one p... moreI know people don't run just one app. My phone is a cheap budget phone with just 1GB of RAM and there are over 45 apps installed (not pre installed). So most of the processes for those apps will be running in the background at any given time.
The storage memory of a phone itself is a RAM in the way they work. The difference is the speed the CPU can access information from each source.
Mobile phones are not much different from computers. Insane amount of RAM is just a waste both on computers and on mobiles.

ROFL, 01 Jun 2017How retarded... Give me 4GB of RAM is more then ENOUGH! and... moreMaybe because some people actually care that their phone does not become dog slow after a while? Just an idea. Nand speeds are far higher than microsd speeds hence why having more of *it* makes sense. Ram makes IO transfers even faster yet, hence its use.
Anything else is just moaning from fanboys that don't get how certain hardware directly impacts their use...

Anonymous, 02 Jun 2017And now we are on the big ram fiasco. A "fisaco" that reliably gives better performance.
If all fiascos were like that I would love those. Honestly ram means top IO transfers, meaning vastly superior performance, why don't you just *get* the point of ram in non Windows machines (where it is indeed faster).
Ultra high resolutions are a fiasco (any more than 1080p is a waste due to human limitations), ultra big devices are a fiasco (far harder to use), losing the capacity to easily repair your phone is a fiasco, the death of removable batteries is a fiasco.
There are plenty ways that the industry assaults the users for personal gains. Why not show *them* instead of calling out one of the few good trend in the industry (where it exists, because in the west there is certainly the "optimization" cult).

AnonD-664474, 02 Jun 2017Every year, RAM capacity demand increases.
Yet no one but ... moreOnly Sony and Google fail to see that optimizing apps is harder than simply upping the ram amount. Hardware moves faster than software and as long as something akin to Moore's law holds , software optimization would pay less than simply stuffing your phone with the latest hardware. Google and Sony always fail in that department (lately Samsung too).
If 8GB of ram is an option it should be used. Fast computing is 20% optimization , 80% hardware. PS3 was optimized as haell and a kiod range computer from 2008 could manage better graphics.
Optimization is very important but supremely hard. Better just use the latest hardware and do so e optimization on the side.
Sony and Google had it completely backwards, that's why no names like OnePlus would beat them speed wise. Because they also do some optimization, but only some, anything more and you enter the realm of ddiminishing returns.

Every year, RAM capacity demand increases.
Yet no one but Sony and Google are interested to make full use of their high capacity RAM, nor even work out of not having a single app to reload in the background when multitasking.
Apple and Sony just proves to us that numbers are plain numbers.
XZ Premium literally flew over the iPhone 7 Plus in speed despite the lower single core score. Samsung with the more powerful hardware, can't even seem to close the gap to the iPhone 7 Plus.

brvnbld, 01 Jun 2017There's no need to market, they could just launch the phone... moreZ11 was launched in India. It was a failure here due to one simple thing oxygen os(or whatever OnePlus uses)>> nub ui (or noob ui) they were even priced the same except for 2 GB ram difference. But Nubia had a better camera though...
