Smartphone users don't care about profits. They care about their phones.

sr777, 05 Jun 2017I won't spend more than $200 for a phone. Seriously, why do... moremaybe they work hard to gain more money to buy what they like instead complaining people buying things we dont like or cant afford

Yann, 05 Jun 2017Why last year results are more than 100%?!? Apple - 79.8%,... moreOthers were operating at loss.... Basic economics 101

Funny how people still spew garbage irrespective of what the numbers say. Apple is a business, not a charity organisation!! I'm sure all of you doing business want to maximise profit as much as possible, so don't go hating when another company knows how to do it better than you. And I'd rather pay $800 for a phone I can resell a year later for close to the price I bought it at, rather than pay $800 and then have the resell value drop to $400 in the same period. Think about it, who's throwing away their money? Just of the reasons for choosing Apple.

There's a reason Apple phones are always behind in the spec sheet. They are operating on a great customer service, generally lower spec (they push single core performance to the max) and a prestige persona to consumers.

What that summarises is a low cost to produce handset selling for the highest profit margin. Ignorant consumers (some may be savvy to the situation but still want the 'prestige' associated with the handset, knowing their being ripped off from the cost the phone was produced in).

Personally I would buy a product with a lower profit margin as I feel I'm getting a better deal and the money warrants the price of the product i.e. a OnePlus 3T or even the S8 (yes even though their price is on par with Apple, you are getting a phone with a lower profit margin, more expensive innards - better value).

Apple with 11-12 % market share has over 80% of Profit. That gives a DAMN clear idea about how overpriced Apple products are. And no more Innovation mind you, that died with Steve Jobs. iPhones are no longer the standard for innovation, for past 2-3 generations, that's been Android crowd, whether we are talking of Camera, Iris scanners, or Bezelless Displays. It's been the likes of LG, Samsung, HTC & Huwai who have taken the cake & not to mention One Plus with it's value for money flagships.
iPhones are mere copy cats, havent even changed design for 3 generations & this will be 4th.
