Google Pixel XL 2 gets caught in benchmark with bigger screen, Snapdragon 835

Otherwise, not much has changed from its predecessor's specs, it seems.

I think that this is a fake. The specs are exactly the same as the Essential Phone's specs (same resolution/same aspect ratio, same processor, same 4GB Ram, same storage (>100GB), camera with 13 megapixels). Only 5.6" (instead of 5.7") is different, but this could be a rounding error.

Anonymous, 11 Jun 2017Of course XZ runs in 1080p, but XZ Premium runs in 4K.I meant that the Xperia XZ Premium runs at 1080p most of the time anyway despite having a 4k display.

Phone with both a giant chin and soft butoons are the most pointlessly thought ones ever. Both Google and Sony don't know how to design phones (but great software nevertheless)

But even if not everyone cares, there are people that see difference and see it worth to pay money for such device. Regarding consumption, changing QHD to FHD or HD in samsung phones have little change on battery, also sony way of using resolution based on content is also clever and even running 4K seems give good battery life. As for me difference in resolution is clearly visible(and I got not so good eyesight).

Now that I think more about it I have a prediction...

Google with have the Pixel 2 be 5.5" and the Pixel 2 XL be 6". This will be done by upping the screens by .1" for both, and then elongate to the ~19:10 ratio (like essential PH-1). So they will have the equivalent width of a 5.1" and 5.6" 16:9 device (hence why this Pixel 2 XL is reporting as 5.6" without the nav buttons being included) which will mean 5.5" and 6" at ~19:10 (~ because it's not exactly a 19:10 ratio).

Nice, round numbers to advertise and this basically gives them a taller screen that just adds the extra for the nav buttons and no more (like S8 and G6 do, which both go too far IMO).

Anything beyond QHD is literally no different than one another and even QHD is hard to be discerned from 1080p (needs good eyes and hold the phone close than it is comfortable for most people).

Terrible gimmicks that only add to the strain of the phone. They should instead focus on increasing to thing that have an impact to the user (BTW 4k screens would too if mobile VR was not as terrible and stagnant).

Pls pls, i hope OEMSs will stop with these slender elongated phones...why can't they just give us a 16:9AR screen with slimmer bezels all around.
Now as with the Pixel XL2...i like the sound of a 16:9AR 5.7" QHD screen but with slimmer bezels top/bottom and sides. Also a big big about 4000mAh+ battery is a must...one of the reasons i have stayed away from some Nexus and last years Pixel XL was battery capacity and lack of a 5.7" screen option on the Pixel XL. I badly want back in...so pls Google&HTC just deliver these two options..big battery and a 5.7" >< 6"' screen w/slim bezels plus all the top specs of 2017 .

With at least 5 finger gesture support? So how you gonna use it with more than 5 fingers at a time? lol 5.6" is too small! That's for baby handed people or Der Fuhrer Drumpf hands.

                                  2560 x 1312 screen resolution at 5.6" is the same width as a conventional 16:9 5.2" screen.

I don't like these long phones, better to stick to a 16:9 aspect ratio.

                                    Looking forward.
