The last Google smartphone was 3 years ago, so it's expected. Since then Google only make phablets.

To be frank I even consider 5.5" screens not big enough.. though i can manage a phone with such a screen if it came with a huge 4000mAh+ battery.

Boy o boy...that sounds like sweet music to my ears. Two of the main reasons that made me pass on the Pixel XL was the 5.5" screen size and to a lesser extent the HTC huge bezels. The second reason was the not so big battery capacity. Well now that it seems we will have a bigger display Pixel XL2...my one foot is in..the other will have to wait n see what the battery capacity will be. I really do hope it comes with a huge capacious about 4000mAh+ power plant. So excited to see what Google + HTC have baking in the oven. Excited also cuz there are lots of great devices out now and also coming up.

Common Huawei..show us something, any leaks about the Mate 9's successor. Settling on a phone will be tough..Pixel XL2, V30, Note 8, Mate 10, Mi Mix 2, OnePlus 5, Axon 8, other unknowns.

I want phone with 6"+ traditional screen like Mi Mix or 6.8" tall screen.

                  Thank goodness.

Both the Pixel and Pixel XL suck. Huge bezels sucked. The half-assed back glass sucked. The crappy speakers sucked. The lack of water/ingress resistance sucked. The fragile build quality sucked. Only average battery life. The late market entry with the QSD 820/821 sucked. The undeservedly high price sucked. The focus shift from developers to iPhone users sucked. Just sucked sucked sucked.

The Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P were much better phones.
The BIGGEST thing holding back the 5X and 6P were the processors. If they both had the Exynos 7420 they would've been relevant even next year. The craptasticular QSD 808 and QSD 810 were barely as fast as the old QSD 805. Hell, even the QSD 650 and QSD 653 processors would've been a decent upgrade.

Well, at least let's hope that it was for the better (!?). And yeah, well said by the article "Hopefully that will fit in a similar footprint compared to the original XL's thanks to smaller bezels." I absolutely agree.

Never again will I buy anything bigger. Larger phones are just dumb, in how unnecessary big they are and how awkward to hood they are.

GSMArena reported on it. So I am probably exactly right. It will just be a taller screen in a phone that is basically the same size. GSMArena really fell down in their reporting on this and jumping to conclusions about a "bigger device."

It seems highly likely in this era of smaller bezels and taller screens with nonstandard aspect ratios, that a 5.7 inch screen on the next Pixel XL is just a taller version of the 5.5 inch screen on the current Pixel XL (in other words, same width just a bit taller, with smaller top and bottom bezels).

So it is dubious in the extreme for GSMArena to claims that because there is a .2 inch difference in the screen diagonals that the XL 2 will be a "bigger device."

Nice, I think also that 2 big phones were too much. I hope the Pixel 2 will have a 5.2" display on the same body as Pixel 1 and Pixel "Taimen" to have something like 5.8" on the same body as Pixel XL.

I would like a compact version, something with a 4.7 to 5 inch screen, rather than the big phablets, preferably with small bezels, like the Sharp Aquos Mini SH-M03.

I'm not fussed too much about big bezels as long as they make good use of them ,
imo Google did some good work on the pixels with software and fair job on the basic hardware ,
The overall design though of the case and feature set was a bit lack lustre .
Why have huge bezels and no dual front facing speakers ? Why have half a glass back when they could have gone the whole hog and added wireless charging ?
All that room on the device and no SD card ?
This is why i left the pixels sitting on the store shelf , and i suspect many others did the same .
Hopefully the next models will be better thought out.

And even though they love bezels, they aren't stupid, they should make this one bezel-less.

Could care less about bezels. If it has a minimum 4,000mAH battery, and a screen minimum of 5.8", and the price isn't close to the iPhone/S8, I might look at it.
