I think starting this year no phone can be named flagship unless display to body rate is huge... Samsung and LG have it, Apple will come soon with it. I don't think OnePlus 5 will have it. If it is a flagship then it will be obsolete at launch.

The oneplus is not anymore a flagship killer. Just another flagship. Too expensive for its own sake.

TechLover1, 20 Jun 2017Well, there's definitely so much to say. But just one singl... more I agree with Mr. TechLover 1. I hope this unit allows SD cards. GSM Arena may review the machine. I wonder what the findings will show.

Well, there's definitely so much to say. But just one single point for now, hopefully this time it will include an SD slot.

Bebe Rexha, 20 Jun 2017Idk how a 1080p display is better than a 4K HDR screen Idk... moreAre you kidding or are you trolling here?

OnePlus 5 got better bezels than Sony screen-to-body ratio of just 68%
Price is way way more cheaper than overprice junk Sony of $800
Camera better in low light, by the way who else shoot at 960fps anyway?
                    Battery capacity larger than Sony
Sony fingerprint sensor is disabled in the USA

And worse-off, Sony is dying soon and OnePlus is growing profitably...

The price will not be justified anymore if their customer service isn't up to par with competitors. Good news though, OnePlus is expanding. I heard they opened up many repair centers here in the USA as well as other countries. So repair turn around time should be cut in half for some people. As far as software.. They have taken care of the OP3 and OP3T pretty well so far but they are fairly new still, hopefully they don't suffer the same fate as the OP2 as that would be really disappointing.

My OP3T has gotten consistent updates and got Nougat in January of this year so i'd say they are definitely doing better. I recently saw a video where one of their main concerns was customer service so i guess we will wait and see.

Still excited for the device though just a little over an hour to go! Hopefully they unveil something we don't already know..

Copycat design, high price, buggy software. And abandoning after a year.

I have OnePlus One..I was a believer when few were. ;) It still works flawlessly and although it took some nasty falls on concrete the screen didn't crack. I absolutely loved it.
It's price was amazing, 300 Euro - do you remember? Camera was Ok, not great, but beside this it had the biggest battery, the biggest ram, the biggest internal storage, the best processor 801AC (HTC M8 had 801AB, for example) and it was half the price of HTC M8 and SG 5. It was a true flagship killer.
As everyone said, OP5's price will be the key to success or fail. There's no reason to buy a phone that can't be serviced properly, but it's price is just 100 euro cheaper than a SG8 or HTC U11. We're not talking anymore about a 300 euro/usd phone with great specs, raising the price bar will also rise the expectation of customers and I'm afraid that OP can't deliver now as it did before. Passing the 500 euro limit with its current customer service will make a lot of fans, as me, to either keep the old phones or reorient to another brands. OP One had it's niche in an supra saturated and diversified market, now the market is even more saturated, but OP5 will not be able to find its place if priced too aggressively. There are, simply, better options.

The telephoto camera killed it for me in ever wanting to buy this phone. I really hoped it would have been an rgb and a monochrome camera. If they were gonna do a telephoto, they should have done 3x at least. no point in a measly 2x like the iphone did.

I never paid attention to this brand before all this hype started, but so far i'm not impressed. It's supposed to be a cheap flagship, but clearly it is not all that cheap and there is little to set it apart from the competition. Besides it's a pain in the arse to actually buy the thing, i could get a s8 for a slightly higher price at this point or a LG g6 for 533 Euros..

They don't offer good customer service (from past experience) and their softwares are full of bugs (first hand experience). IF they want to charge the same price as other major brands like Samsung and Apple, they need to prepare to provide the same quality of customer service. This is the reason why some people buy Samsung and Apple, not because they are sheep, but because they can get reliable support.

I am really excited for this device i have purchased every OnePlus with the exception of the OPX. (Some used, some brand new). I currently have the Midnight Black Edition OP3T and it's great, the OP5 should only further that greatness. I'm particularly looking forward to the camera as I've heard it will be amazing.

With that being said i sadly admit that this will be the last year i buy a OnePlus device. The lowest spec'ed model is rumored to be $480 ish and that's pretty close to the max i'd pay for one of these phones. OnePlus used to pride themselves in bringing cutting edge hardware for a low price.. which they've continued to do but if you look back their first phone it was $299 and had the newest hardware and features available that year. Now you have to pay $200 extra for the privilege of having one of these things.

Competition is as fierce as ever and nowadays you can get great deals online on new devices and also on lightly used devices. $500 can get you a current flagship here in the USA if you look hard enough. I'll list some examples.

                                    New, current:
-Galaxy S8 for $424 (When you trade in ANY working smartphone in good condition Samsung.com)
                                    - New (Resale) LG G6 for $400 on Swappa.com

                                    A little older:
                                    - HTC 10 New (Resale) Unlocked for $ 385 on Swappa.com
                                    - Moto Z Force Droid New (Resale) for $429 on Swappa.com

I'm not going to sit here and list every single deal i see but you get the point, $500 is a little steep with everything considered.

Anyway i'm not going to let all this ruin my excitement for this years OnePlus device as i'm still going to purchase but in the future if the price keeps climbing i'll have to say goodbye to this small good company.

                                    See you all at launch.

                                    Cheers..

I guess that's not waterproof. Anyhow in one hour we'll see.

They are insisting a lot on their camera as the key of the phone. With some luck they'll release some useful new iOSCopyPaste similarities in their super camera's interface.
