It says that you won't be able to use WhatsApp on Windows Phone 8.0 and older after December 31, 2017. But for Windows Phone 7.* supports was ended after December 31, 2016. So you can't use WA on that platform anymore anyway. I can't found WA on WP 7.8 marketplace anymore.

Why S40 supported to the end of 2018 (one year and a half more!) and nothing for S60? I'm very angry.
It is clear that the "technical reasons" to close down the support were just lies, since S40 is inferior to S60 and much inferior to BB of course.
Probaly there are millions of cheap Asha phones still around, whose owners don't want to spend for a new android just for an app.

I also, owner of an S60 phone, will not change mine for WA, i will change app instead. I already installed Nimbuzz (has also calls), still trying to find something else (xms, icq) and if WA won't extend I will say them goodbye.
Anyway I have only one friend abroad for which i need IM, for the others i can go back to sms now that are given away almost for free. For the rest old good email.

I encourage owners of S60 to resist, don't change your phone, maybe WA changes its mind and gives us the same treatment as S40.

Wow, such long term support (and by extension, compassion) towards older platform is very rare, especially from a third-party app! Kudos to WhatsApp!

Let them stop support for older android. But why for s60 and s60. There are new feature phones still released in market. Even nokia too has released a new one. Whatsapp must support their feature phone version as many are still using and it is very useful who does not smart phone. Please note senior citizens handy and easy phone is feature phone.

Same thing why it's not for S60.....I think there is still some users using S60... I hope they will extend 9more days left

So on and off about shutdown dates, I changed phones specifically cause of WhatsApp support deadlines.

To which version is what they considered 'older version'? Android 2.3.7 and older is a very vague explanation. Kitkat? Lollipop? Marshmallow? All no longer supported by 2020? Since in 2020 we should have Android R.
