I think 90%+ any apps on any apps market by any company are garbage... I only use like 20 apps and maybe only looked through couple hundreds. lol

This is stupid, in Appstore and android market there just a lot of SPAM!!!, a lot of cheap and useless version of good apps, and/or futile apps with 200+ fanboys version to do the same crap everything u can do in a iphone/ipod or some android top devices u can do in symbian or blackberry, and some essential apps like GPS navigation are paid APPs in appstore, thats why im still on nokia and i belive android isnt beter than symbian, its just more gloweyes, and developed by linux fanboys, i give android about 2 ~~3 years before he losses its magic (and symbian will still survive that far)

In my submission, I want to just say most of the free Apps in Android Market are same that means same Apps are repeated by different developers. As example, there are 100+ File Manager in Android Market like Astro File..., ES File Explo..., OI File Man..., Zipe Ex..., File Ex... & atc. So, I think only bigger in numbers of Apps rather than Categories. That's very frustrated:(

Mind it, There is still now no NEED FOR SPEED UNDERCOVER in Android Market BUT, Apple Apps STORE, OVI STORE even WP7 has it. Lets think about it!!!

AnonD-1082, 28 Apr 2011So does Android. For every app sold on the Market, Goog... morewell said. we have collusion among US manufactures on pricing. xman

I think the total count of applications is an imperfect measure of a stores value. I find most low to no cost applications to have little value. maybe they have value to a small percentage of users.

the applications I want to have access to are the ones that change the look and feel of the OS on the device. with this measure apple is already behind due to there heavy handed censorship.

consumers' minds...free apps are better than paid apps..thats why Android grown up fast..In fact games and apps are just play as supportive role...is that apps and games worth $0.99,$1.99,$2.99? Somesay yes but i believe most of them say no..took PSP for example, since I can download games copy to memory stick and play it, why bother to waste money on original games? :/

Luke, 28 Apr 2011I don't know Android market, but I feel Appstore sometimes ... moreI think you're confusing Apple's AppStore, iBookstore, and iTunes on iDevices. Those are 3 separate stores on iDevices. They don't sell music on the AppStore but they do on iTunes.

If they are counting the numbers of useful applications or the number of applications people download, then android will certainly be way ahead apple. I have used iphone but I was dissapointed with their apps store because all the useful ones for basic running of a phone are paid and quite pricey unlike android.

I don't need tons and tons of useless apps. I just need some good, affordable and useful apps that's all. Quality is more important than Quantity.

I don't know Android market, but I feel Appstore sometimes like a joke. All the books are counted as apps. All the simple shortcuts are counted as apps (e.g. to place a shortcut to a phone on the desktop). Not mentioning that almost every app has several versions (free & paid). The whole place was designed to sell music, not software and as a result you can't simply browse it - you'd have to know what you're looking for in order to find it. Browsing it is a nightmare- constantly being thrown at the beginning of the search list... very bad implementation, but it seems kids like it.

For every app sold on the Market, Google takes 30% share even if they have nothing to do with developing said app. That Google is one greedy company. XD

People saying android users are cheap, would you call Ubuntu users cheap? Because Ubuntu is free and a massive chunk of all software on linux is free.
Android IS linux and the fact its free (and mega easy) to develop for android is a lot to do with why so much is free.

IOS/BB/Ovi users, don't think you're getting something special by paying for it. You're paying for it because the developer had to pay to make it.
