s8 is the first sd835. and then htcu11 then 1+5. of course every single company make upgrades after their competitors. s8 slower because it's the oldest device among them. then 2.35ghz (s8) vs 2.45ghz (htc/1+5). is this fair?? 4gb (htc) vs 8gb (1+5) of ram. is this fair?

george, 26 Jun 2017It is kind of stupid to compare these phones since the Onep... moreThe s8 by default runs at 1080p upscaled, u11 beats it at 1440p default.
This sort of battle tests ram, storage and cpu speed, gpu performance is minor, so resolution doesn't hugely matter.

First of all, a very big well done and keep it up to OP5 for this one (not for the cheating, increased price & same display). Well done too (but less) to HTC for the second place. And LAST AND LEAST as well, to Samsung. They must be really a shame that the OP5 performed much better than the S8, and they don't have excuses. Because if it was due to RAM management, so they must improve it, if it was due to less RAM, so they must increase it, and if it was due to both (mostly) so they must improve and upgrade them both. In other words, if? (and they do) they pretend to produce the best phones (flagships, etc) and so in return they pretend the highest price tags for that, so they must deliver, perform as that. Additionally, hopefully Samsung with the upcoming Note 8, will really produce the best flagship of 2017, and not just on paper, or, and just as hype, etc. So let's wait and eventually see.

viveksubhash, 26 Jun 2017It always depends on how you use a phone.. For a movie buff... moreDidn't know movie buffs watch on phones. Why not a TV or a tablet when mobile... You know, devices built for that kind of things... I would never watch a movie on a phone too much detail lost to even feel it is a movie, better just read the script ... How would a movie buff ffind it enjoyable I don't know, because you watch it strapped on head (through goggles) I dunno...

Alex, 26 Jun 2017When a 0.16 sec difference in opening an app will be import... moreIt's not 0.16 ... It's a few second. Most/all of your apps get cashed. 4GB phones refresh all the time. Remember only the second round it relevant as you open apps for the first time only once per reboot, after that it's all ram/memory management.

OnePlus feels and is insanely faster than S8 ... They're not close.

It is kind of stupid to compare these phones since the Oneplus is actually running with different resolution making things easier for him. The Oneplus is the only one running 1080p while the other two are running 1440x2560 and the Samsung due to its weird aspect ratio 1440x2960 and in this test these extra pixels matter.

2 what do you mean? Critical performance? I guess op5 just dominated others in this video...
3 apples ios is a gimped version of Android (ironically it came before). Delightful features in Samsung like? That Iris scanner that doesn't work in bright sunlight or night. That version of Android which lags inspite of best hardware? That fingerprint scanner at odd Location?
The other companies you mentioned pretty much give stock Android or stock Android plus few useful features (as one plus does) as part of software package.

It always depends on how you use a phone.. For a movie buff like me the s8 or g6 will hold more value for their extra wide screen... On the other hand i have always advised my friends to get oneplus as a cheap durable flagship..

Bbk sells around same number as Samsung. Both do it the same way. Marketing and paying the people who sell/ reviewers. There is no such thing as reliability since both have parts made in China anyways. Example Oppo uses screen by Samsung and has licensed design of iPhone. Ironically mi and iPhones are made In same foxconn factories. Stop marketing will you?

Personally I think milli secs advantage in opening an app is not a normal criteria. I would search for:
                            1) Post sales service
                            2) Critical features for day to day efficiency
                            3) Extra features that delight
In that evaluation I would rate Samsung & Apple as top slot followed by HTC, Google, LG next and then by others

People that say speed doesnt matter are completely wrong. I had every single Samsung phone since the Galaxy S1, and switched to the 3T on release. When every app opens instantly after you tap it its priceless, the fact that you feel like the phone can keep up with your fingers its an experience that I had forgotten. Every time I use my wife Exynos Note 4, or brothers S6 I realize how slow this phones are and automatically annoys me.

Sony Xperia XZ Premium is the only phone to date that it can't defeat on speed test. Nice work sony, despite of its 4K screen. The advantage that i can see One plus has advantage is the price and screen to body ratio. However, weighing all the pros of XZP versus 1+5 you'll end up choosing the xzp especially on software update and customer support.

well, there are things that people in the real world look for other than how fast a phone is. Yes , in a group of geeks you'll hear an argument or a show off of speed, but the majority of the users care more to what they're getting for what they're paying (features and etc.) I personally used an iPhone 7 plus and i switched the S8 plus, and honestly even when I know i'm losing out on single core performance, the S8 plus is a feature packed. It's like comparing a sports car and a luxury car. One's fast, the other doesn't get you bored.
