Shhzd amar, 03 Jul 2017Bro I guess the camera is okay for the price, the price is ... more"The camera gave tough competition to the pixel and even the S8 in some aspects"
Every online review I've read and seen (video) chose the S8 camera over the OP5 easily; the only areas OP5 came on top of S8 was in portrait mode. I based this on multiple video reviews from respectable sources and written reviews including GSMArena.

"Bro, EIS is a software feature, so no matter which lens is being used it will always stablize it"
You're wrong here because 1080p stabilization was tested and when shifted to the 2x (1.6x) zoom ie. the 20MP camera ... you could see the video become destabilized and shaky. Confirmed this on a few reviews both video and written. Also remember that if there isn't enough light the camera defaults back to the 16MP camera with EIS; so during the video testing with OP5 it was easily seen when the camera becomes destabilized in daylight scenes.

"Only the low light performance lacks just because of the missing OIS"
In multiple reviews the focusing and HDR of the OP5 camera was described as a "hit or miss". When it was a "hit" the camera took great photos but when it "missed" the photos were sub-standard of a 2016 flagship. Also apart from clarity,AF and HDR most people critic a phone's camera heavily for low light shots so its actually pretty important (even OP boasted about low light shots in it's teasers of the OP5 with their night time shots of a building at midnight and a bridge at night). Because of this it was found out (again from multiple online reviews) that the OP5 photos suffer from heavy grains and AF issues.

Look the OP5 is an extremely great phone for the price point but with Samsung pushing deals on their S8/S8+ if the price got close enough to the OP5 (at least the 128GB version), most people will buy it over the 5. I love that the OP5 is a performance beast despite the "natural jelly scrolling" and for sure it spanks the S8 in multiple speed tests and ram management sessions; also the price for its base model is one of the cheapest smartphones for a spec'd out performance beast in 2017 and its DASH charging is revolutionary. However, as an overall flagship the OP5 is lacking in multiple areas and is inconsistent compared to the S8. A few examples would be video quality (unstable 4k), video playback (no HDR 10), aesthetics (not original), screen quality (reused 3T screen), IP rating, HDR (hit or miss), low light performance (no OIS), what's in the box (Samsung includes more in their box: expensive earphones and convenient adapters). OP5 is no longer a flagship killer BUT a flagship due to the whole price increase and lacking in areas that 2017 flagships rule, however it is a great flagship that gives you the performance that you deserve for a price that shouldn't have it. Never-the-less, if OP can bring out more updates to fix their phones software issues and improve the phones camera quality and performance; many people will change their opinions for the better but until then, if prices for the S8 continues to go down .... people will buy the S8 over the OP5.

Just have a look at the S7, its pricing was somewhere near to 43k, but the S8 is priced at what? 57k don't you think that's too much? It doesn't even have a dual camera...

The camera gave tough competition to the pixel and even the S8 in some aspects... Only the low light performance lacks just because of the missing OIS... To be honest, I didn't like the portrait mode that much, I compared it with iPhone 7 plus but its not that good, I know the comparison isn't fair but I guess the thing shouldn't be that much boasted if its not perfect...

Bro, EIS is a software feature, so no matter which lens is being used it will always stablize it... But the thing is that it provided unbaked EIS, but that's kinda okay because its today's trend to provide unbaked things ( samsung, xiaomi)....

"Wifi issues"? Anyone know what that is about? And, what do they refer to when stating they're working on it for the "next build"?

Shhzd amar, 28 Jun 2017Just asking? What more do you want? Obviously if you ha... moreNot upset with OnePlus for the features in the 5 but the one thing that I was kinda disappointed about is that if OP boasted so much about the camera. Even the cover of the box it comes in says so. Despite all the hype they gave, the camera is only "ok" with important stuff missing like a proper EIS for 4k recording, portrait mode working as it suppose to (not a hit or miss) or at least EIS for their dedicated 20MP telephoto lens.

Sure there's no IP rating or screen resolution is exactly the same as the 3T or there's no micro-sd or even no originality in design; BUT I already over-looked all those issues expecting an awesome camera WITH ALL THE HYPE about it. However, we just get a decent camera, so that leaves me looking at what's left that makes it a flag-ship killer.
The 2 things OP5 has going for it right now is only is Performance and Price point; consumers these days focus heavily on how good the camera is and OP gave us a lot of hype but couldn't deliver for the amount of hype they generated.
If OP5 gets updates enough to correct and add features for the Camera to be working as it was hyped about ....then yes I'd most likely buy that phone and save some money, however, until they do that I'll have to put money aside for a phone that can deliver on that as well as has other great features despite its slower performance compared to the 5.

Arengium, 28 Jun 2017OIS is a stabilization implemented at the camera to smoothe... moreAdding to his words... OIS, i.e, optical image stablization is optical ( hardware based)... As the phone shakes the lens moves in the opposite direction of the shake so that it doesn't shake the video... EIS is gyroscope based, I don't know much about it, it maybe that the sides of the video are trimmed...

Anonymous, 27 Jun 2017does the pixel cheat in benchmarks?. Just cheating in benchmarks define that the brand is bad? Yes, everyone commits some mistakes... Hope oneplus doesn't do that again

And still the company is trying to improve and others are praising it then you've a problem with that too... Wow!

It's Me, 27 Jun 2017What's the difference between OIS and EIS? Is EIS any good ... moreOh and for your 2nd question, it depends on how good the software works. Looking at Google Pixel or OnePlus 5's 1080p recording EIS, it's good enough but not better than OIS

It's Me, 27 Jun 2017What's the difference between OIS and EIS? Is EIS any good ... moreOIS is a stabilization implemented at the camera to smoothen out the camera's movements while the EIS relies on the software. How it works is that they crop out the edges of the video to make it seems like there's few movements. And OIS is better

Thanks for not giving up oneplus. I know you guys must be over stressed from the heavy negative feedback. I'm sure your trying your best with the small resources you've got.

4k eis will be a huge help!
Hope a fix is planned for the inconsistent smooth scrolling issues(jelly scrolling) so many people are having. The 128gb i got doesnt show severe signs of this but i can see a little bit of page stretching in chrome whilst scrolling up or down. It is smoother in chrome while firefox is snappy but stuttery while no stretching effect. Kind of a trade off... strange behavior

Good to hear that company focus to 4k EIS stability as that was the major drawback for oneplus 5. But sadly lack of OIS always gave oneplus 5 camera details results not as great.

Well, so well done to OP for these, and because they are all good news, regarding all the 3 OP's (3/3T/5).
