google should strike the same deal as apple and stop the network providers messing with and delaying the updates. gingerbread has been available from the 14th on sammies web site, O2 is still adding bloatware and rubbish to the froyo update...

There is currently around 350,000 Android activations everyday and I don't see a parallel explosion of user population at XDA. I might be wrong but the geek population you see on the net is a microscopic sample of Android users. The greater majority are not geeks.

Rooting isn't the answer. Android 2.x should have a proper update system, like honeycomb, windows, mac os, windows phone 7, ios, etc.

if you're running any dated version of android, chances are you haven't rooted your phone and installed a later version yet. which ultimately means you don't know what android is about.

Why don't they just group 2.3 Gingerbread and 2.3.3 Gingerbread together? It makes no sense to me. :S

I don't understand why Google is eagerly updating its android OS. frequent updates making the costumers and mobile producers bit puzzling, why should not they make one stable OS which can run for such a normal time i.e at least 6 months?????
Since the last 1 year there are more than 9 updates for android ufffffffff.,,, WTF

Google should sort out this mess by taking control of 2.x in their own hands, just like 3.x, and make it possible to deliver updates to all android phones.
