Every material must have it advantage and disadvantage. The metal also can get scratch or dent in drop damage but it looks sturdy than glass or high-end plastic. The glass (Gorilla glass) can get fingerprints but difficult to get scratch and more brilliant than metal. The high-end plastic can have better signal/receiver for connection but hardly to be good looking design as it looks cheaper compare to metal and glass. BTW Sony have outstanding designs, example Z3 compact has high-end plastic frame but it looks gorgeous, Z2 has a unibody aluminum frame with electroplating painting, Z5 has the less fingerprint glass, X Perfomance has seamless metal, XZ has Alkaleido Aluminum Alloy...

Just look at Xperia Z3 compact the frame is a kind of this high-tech plastic. To protect the phone from drop damage. While the bend test always show the Xperia with the best on not dehiscence for it glue between the back case and the phone. So your comment are invalid.

So b... moreYeah, I already took that note that bezeless screens are not-so-handy for everyone but still Sony should reduce their bezels. Example? LG G2 - 5,2 inch screen, usable in one hand, small bezels (infinity display of 2013 xd) just perfect for smaller to medium hands. Still they managed to pack such screen in smaller body. Possible? Possible.
I get it that plastic could be used in high-end tech in Japan but I still prefer metal design. Looks better, feels better and it's harder to break than this one which is used in Sony phones. Clearly they don't use best plastic which is out there.
Power consuption is not such a big deal between 720p and 1080p but in quality you'll see clear difference. I'd go for 5,2 inch screen if bezels would be smaller so I'd have no problem handling phone with one hand.
Lets don't change subject to other company ok? It's another river-topic without end. Customers should be important for every company, not just Sony, that's a fact. This one time I'll answer for Samsung - I agree. Fingerprint scanner in their phones now are masterpiece, I wonder who invented this and why he's still working in this company.

About the display for 4.6 size, the best way should have 720p with upscaling to 1080p panel switching technology. NOT every time to wasting the battery in 1080p, unless it had a bigger sealed battery to burn the energy.
Samsung S8 have fingerprint scanner next to the camera, many people don't like the weird place for the fingerprint, then the Samsung Note 8 will do the same, samsung really don't listening to people. Samsung SHOULD care about what people say, because people are their foundations.

Xperia X and X Performance have metal backs and it looks amazing IMO, bring that back instead of GG5 everywhere.

Plastic have no reasons for this price point. It's much weaker than metal and I cannot accept it's durability, especially when other companies are using metal design and their flaghships are much more durable.
Looks like you misunderstood. XZ1 Compact will have worse camera than XZ1. In my opininon it should stay the same, but nope, they always need to make money on smt. So hard to understand that not everyone have such big hands and they prefer smaller phones but with flagship internals? You can clearly see the difference in density between normal XZ and it's Compact version. Like I said, 1080p should be a standard, even in phone with 4,6' screen.
I didn't said anything about fingerprint. It's placement is comfy so I have nothing to complain about. Points which I mentioned should be changed to make people happy, and they SHOULD care about what people say, because people are their foundations.

So if you love bezelless smartphone please cover the protector case, call it the "second bezels" to protect the frame and protect the display.
Second , the smartphone must be a assembly of composite materials, the material of use must have it reasons. Is it only glass metal and plastic? It must be even more than people see.
Third, the camera quality is good even the iPhone 7 Plus has been beaten by XZ Premium, how can you using the word worse?! You know the Time Cook must be unhappy. While the display for smaller screen is better using 720p with push up the pixel density, I can't see the difference because the increase of pixel density is fully making the display like Retina.
For example: the fingerprint placement is very basically designs, how could a company place it aside the camera to pulling user hand, that's the facts they don't care what people want.

1. Like someone said, they should focus on making bezeless screen, especially top and bottom sides.
2. Aside from that, they really SHOULD start making METAL frame around this beautiful phone. Plastic is not acceptable, especially for this PRICE.
3. Worse camera and much worse screen in compact?! Why people even bother buying that phone if it's not true 'small flagship' phone and it's overpriced? 1080p should be standard for Compact, and normal XZ, but 4k could be standard in premium editions. Next thing is camera, it should be same as in normal XZ.
Why these corporations are so stupid.. why you can't give us product which we want so you'll make your customers happy? Isn't that true that WE, customers are foundation of your buisness? Correct me if I am wrong.
