Meh not feeling it, just a bigger S8+ with an S Pen. Hopefully its top-notch specs compensates for that.

Anonymous, 11 Jul 2017Stupid fingerprint sensor placement again. Why?Because they need a big bottom area for contact with the DeX plate, for device to cool down while using DeX. I might not buy it because of this, so it's a stupid decision.

Anonymous, 10 Jul 2017No, it's the Note 8. Notice the S-Pen. I mistakenly thought the article showed a rendering for the S8 Active. It dawned on me later, after I posted my comments. Thanks for pointing that out nether the less :-) .

It means I can use it to my heart's content with every notifications and syncing on, no such meaningless plugging in for power in the middle of the day.

Sure, it's 20mm thick, but I'm not a slave to the fact that while the masses think thin is great, yet they carry around bigger and thicker powerbanks to keep up power needs. Very ironic.

I use to swap batteries, but for the past 18 months, I just plug it for the night and get full power. There's no power transfer waste like what happens with powerbanks. I get to use every mAh.

Anonymous, 11 Jul 2017You and your sedentary lifestyle might not need it.. But th... more... Hot deserts and cold tundras.. what ever degrades.. also will degrade your removable batteries as well. If you buy and swap, still will degrade, you keep and swap.. still degrade. You just spend more unnecessary money..

Swap and get 100% battery life, but you have to wait for the boot up, so your uptime is lessen. Sure battery pack charge takes time, but then again no downtime. Plus you have to keep track of those uncharged batteries.. and buy yet another charger dock etc etc.. think of the $$ you spend.

You think removable battery will increase the price of phone resale? go see the resale market before you comment.

Removable battery hinders waterproof.. thats for sure, something removable will always wear and tear.. the waterproof bindings will break sooner then non removable construction. Thats why its only tested.. and found to be bad.. so they move to seal it.

Note 7 will still get hammered, regardless of removable battery or not. If something is constructed wrongly, regardless you can remove one part and replace, people will be scared, and demand a full refund, which is what they did.

But you are right, its an option, but apparently phone makers do not care. They prefer thin, can put more battery inside, and durable.

Imperator Neubaticus, 11 Jul 2017Going to be the best note yet. And definitely pre-ordering this. It probably will be the best Note but I'm not sure it will be the best selling Note.
                                    A lot of S7, GN5 & GN7 owners brought the S8+ a few months ago (myself included).

Unless you really need the S Pen of dual camera it doesn't seem to offer anything over the S8+... apart from the usual incremental improvements.

I still think the 18.5:9 screen ratio and curved edges are a mistake for the Note series.
If the GN8 camera is a big step up on the S8+ I will get it.
Otherwise I will keep my S8+ till the GN9 comes around.

But those who live in hot deserts or cold tundras where the battery degrades faster than you vegetables it is essential.. Removable battery also will boost the value of used phone as you can easily buy a used phone change its battery to a new one.. One more advantage is you can swap the battery for 0 - 100% charge in 5 seconds.. Another advantage is in case of calamity like the galaxy Note 7 you can easily correct it by changing the battery instead of recalling those millions units affected.. It happened once to samsung who knows it may happen to other manufacturer as well in the future.. The key here is option.. more option is always an advantage.. If you say removable battery hinders metal unibody phone? Then take a look at the first metal unibody phone the HTC Legend - it had removable battery despite metal unibody.. If you say removable battery hinders waterproof phone? Then just look at the S5 - waterproof with removable battery.. It can be done and has been done.. The only reason for a sealed battery is because of Apple's trend which is both stupid and sad
