Maybe Essential phone is just a rebadged Sharp and Andy Rubin cannot comment on its lateness because Sharp haven't finish manufacturing the phone?

which is why i said that this is the phone Sharp should of came out with not Xiomi. But alas good for them its a decent phone tahts really impressive to look at.

But the mi mix doesn't use bone conduction tech (which is kind of stupid in a phone as you'd have to press it against your ears quite hard to get a clean sound). The mix uses what is called a "Piezoelectric Speaker". It relies on the properties of the ceramic body of the phone to produce the sound. That makes the sound louder and more clear than the bone conduction ones, plus you don't have to press the phone against your ears. And as far as I know it can also be fit into a smaller space.
Calling the Mix a copy of the aquos would be kind of unfair. It is inspired from the aquos. But it has been refined a lot. The sharp phones felt experimental rather than a high end device and they aren't available outside japan. The Mix is somewhat available everywhere and despite of being a limited production concept, it felt very high end and premium. And it is because of the Mix being so epic that now everyone else is making bezel less phones.

BTW, I really hate this new trend of cutouts in the screen for placing the front camera. Looks so weird. I'd rather prefer the design language of the first Aquos.

It's actually a 630. An 830 would make sense with a lower model number anyway :)

Sharp already have three bezel less phone model under Aquos series way before Mi Mix even exist. Honestly, im wondering why Xiaomi couldnt even innovate some more and make their Mi Mix more interesting instead of a blatant copy.
