Anonymous, 14 Jul 2017You don't know that Vertu phones come with one touch concie... moreYou do realise that any normal smartphone will be able to do these things in a matter of seconds not hours. Most of the time people want to get things done themselves rather than have others take hours. For example, if you want to take a photo it might be of something that will not be there in an hour. I can't blame you for your ignorance of those who want to get things done.

I dont believe the company ever asked itself why would people would be interested in buying out dated phones for a fortune!!

Vertu should have a separate platform for their concierge service to stay afloat...

I empathize with Vertu. I'd like to see it's owner work with a successful firm (or more than one) and turn things around. I am a fan of the company's latest Constellation model. Speaking of which, any word on when HTC will release the U Ultra with a sapphire screen?

b, 14 Jul 2017no one cares these days about such overpriced devices. as I... moreYou don't know that Vertu phones come with one touch concierge service means you don't have any idea what it's like being rich.. Vertu is all about the concierge service - the phone is just like a remote control for calling your servant.. That is why Vertu don't have to be a smartphone.. You want to take a picture - call in the concierge and professional photographer with proper equipment and lighting will come to you and take your picture.. You want to buy tickets to the cinema - call in the concierge and you will be arranged for a red carpet entrance to the cinema for your private viewing and a butler will chauffeur you from your home and will buy you the popcorn and cola.. You want to post an update to your social network - call in the concierge and a professional make up artist will come and prepare you for a photo shoot, then comes the professional photographer, then comes the digital artist to edit your photos to perfection and finally comes the professional PR manager and professional editor to craft your status message/captions and check for grammatical errors - and then your status will be posted(overseen by professional cyber security officer) to your social media.. As I said you won't be able to even imagine what life is like being rich.. LOL can't blame you for your poor life ignorance

I remember when Vertu made phones of the highest quality components: leather, sapphire screens, specially tuned speakers, etc. It's sad how far they've fallen.

Every rich person I know likes flagship smart phones that are able to do stuff and support a wide range of accessories, not feature phones clad in a fancy veneer.

no one cares these days about such overpriced devices. as I've seen it since 2000: expensive phone should be top-featured. give them 12gigs of RAM. give them 8k screen. not -5 years back to the past phones. that's not cars or houses!

Money laundering cover like someone commented here when Gsmarena first wrote the story about the acquisition??

Vertu is a wasting time and nonsense product.

Doesn't surprise me one bit. Their phones generally had very low-end hardware, and putting premium materials on them didn't help it.
As the saying goes: "If you paint a turd a pretty colour, it's still a turd."

Too bad, now less choices in the high end market. ;)

raz, 13 Jul 2017about time. inferior phones for ridiculous pretentiousness... moreHaha yeah, that's what it seems.

Hopefully they will find the right solution.

"Vertu's strategy: building outdated phones with quality materials such as ostrich leather and jewels"

Well said, GSMA! I'm actually surprised they managed to last this long!
