I'm just wondering, why this chain Foxconn - FIH Mobile - HMD Global - Nokia Technologies.
Also, why HMD has so many employees? The overhead shall be enormous.
No wonder miscommunications, delays, and expensive products.

AnonD-672759, 19 Jul 2017replaced by an ex microsoft manager (mobile division)... se... moreFalse information. He worked at HTC and Orange, not Microsoft. And also he has been senior vice president of Nokia from 1999-2012 so he is also a long time Nokian like Arto Numella.

Its taking far to long to get the handsets out and they are not very inspiring at all, think people have got bored and moved on. Perhaps Arto is ill and has to leave because of this or maybe HMD are failing and he can see the writing on the wall.

Anonymous, 19 Jul 2017Yea they already have Xiaomi and they have both better spec... moreand no after sale services , where phone sits in service centres for months because of no parts, poor service , .. just read after sale reviews and no easy and widespread offline availability... this is what realistically differentiates a brand from chinese manufacturers..

sadly there is no alternative to Samsung .. Market very much needs Nokia ... this is why Oppo and Vivo are flourishing ..

Cannot believe that people are still spreading this myth!?
As a loyal Nokia fan since 1999,and as much as I loved that company.... The truth is Nokia was dead long before MS deal, which only prolonged the inevitable, and sacked way too much money from MS to the (zombie)Nokia.
Btw acquisition of Nokia is the worst buisines deal in the last 20 years, and the bigest mistakes one company(MS) could do.
However I agree with you on the point that they should've let the brand rest in peace.

Another blunder. Great promise to customer and late delivery of products. Not surprised. Already Chinese giant LeCoo has sank. Now it is HMD aka Nokia as some fan mentions. Old Nokia has died on the day when it choosed Microsoft Windows as OS over Google Android a few years back. It was a better decision if they have not dug out the grave and try to resurrect Nokia. Anyway I wonder what next. Many people specially in India are waiting for those Nokia 3,5,6,7,9 etc to buy. Now I don't think they should wait and move on with other brands.

He has been a Nokia die hard, working there through sickness and health for almost 20 years. Seeing the company start again and leave before it ships the first flagships? Nah. The new CEO? A Microsoft days guy. Nokia is bleeding people who actually worked at the Nokia we remember, and I wonder why.

Wow, this is extreme and very immediate. If it was moving elsewhere, it would not happen like this. It's a sign of bad things happening in upper management.

It may look surprising, but...Remember when the current devices were announced? Well...me neither. That's not how things are done.
And the devices themselves are nothing spectacular. He thought the brand itself is enough reason it'll sell. Well...again, that's not how things are done. Unless you're Apple, of course. They can get away with anything and it'll even be considered a "brilliant move".

Anonymous, 19 Jul 2017Unlucky... I thought that, that peace is backYeah, me too.

Either a consequence or a convenient justification of the delays (which might now get even longer). Maybe both...

The fall of Nokia is undeniably near, they will fall as fast as their rise if they always struggling internally, i dont feel nostalgic, with the comeback of nokia... I think its time for Motorola, sony, and Htc to take the lead.. Im afraid that Nokia is about to fall like back when it use windows. I hope they figure out how to work their nokia magic like they use to be in the old days

That should say something.

Well, definitely it's quite a shock, in fact instantly when I saw the title I thought something like that. And yes even more now that the company just started delivering its products to global market and that it is just around the corner to launch its flagship (Nokia 8). Well, we'll see, hopefully for the better.

Compare latest Nokias to S8, even the OnePlus 3 and 3T, the iPhone SE (nice form factor), LG G3/G6, Sony Xperia Z/XZ series, HTC anything and the innovation in design is away ahead. Nokia had a chance to do something useful, like a slide out horizontal keyboard for power users - remember their awesome Symbian communicators?
