Xiaomi outs a video teaser for the Mi 5X

24 July 2017
While the teaser shows the device from all possible angles, it mainly focuses on the dual rear-camera setup.

Chrjns, 25 Jul 2017Hi, you mentioned about scrolling screen shot, which I neve... moreThis only works on xiaomis.

Take a screenshot like you normally do (powerbutton+vol down / swiping down the screen with three fingers / quick circle shortcut). Then you will see that there is a preview of that screenshot at the top right corner. Click on it within 5 seconds (it only lasts that long). Then a preview of the screenshot opens up. At the bottom there will be 4 options. The first one is called scroll and is the one you need to click on. Then simply scroll down as much as you need and press done.

Do note, you can't scroll up. So you need to take the screenshot at the initial position and then scroll down. The max length of the screenshot is probably about 6 times your screen resolution vertically. For me it doesn't work only in the Facebook comments section and the gmail app.

Chrsjns, 25 Jul 2017I am doubtful about its battery life....In a way yes, we'll see.

Androidloveralways, 24 Jul 2017Just 3000mah. I expected better than this from Xiaomi. In a way, yes me too. But let's eventually see, and if so, so why.

Although the SD625 is a very good SoC, but obviously the SD660 will be more appropriate for a mid-ranger (or premium " ") that it is just about to be launched.

The Chipset of snapdragon 625 is known to be battery efficient that is why they put battery so low of 3000 mAh for 5'5 display of a phone. Well they could still put 3300 mAh inside to give the battery more life.

AnonD-519850, 24 Jul 2017a Theme is something, a rom is different. On my phones i on... moreI'm currently using a xiaomi redmi note 3 pro. Used a nexus 5 for 2+ years before this.
I'll admit after the switch, it felt very bad, messy, etc. I was craving to go back to a stock droid phone. But that was MIUI 7. The MIUI 8 update did change a lot. It is way more refined and clean.

It has features that oneplus and other manufacturers are only recently releasing (scrolling screenshots is one of them) and it has some features that I've yet to see in other smartphones (I can put in any amount of apps I want in a folder with just a couple of swipes, no drag and drop necessary).

I do use the global variant and so far I had no trouble with any google services. NONE. I did encounter one bug after an update - the gallery app was lagging badly. The next update fixed it tho.

And among all the other super budget friendly phones, Xiaomis have THE BEST RAM management and battery life. I get about 4 hrs under very heavy usage (full brightness, heavy games {real racing 3, minecraft with 128x textures} - WiFi, Bluetooth, 3g, location services and background sync, all turned on). I did once clock 7 hrs under light usage.

The icons are still ugly tho. That's why I use a stock droid theme. It has no impact on my RAM or battery life.

So before you judge it further, use MIUI 8, then speak.

I'm not saying MIUI is flawless, it has issues every now and then, but so does oxygenOS from time to time. If you know how to use a phone properly, something that is "known having problems" won't give you any problems.

Can more Chinese OEMs take a page from Huawei's book and make some original looking phones for a change? This iPhone clone obsession is getting ridiculous imho.

My best wishes to Xiaomi team. I used Redmi 4x with 3GB ram version for the first time in my life. Being just like a test driver of mobile phones my unbiased opinion is that they are developing some great phones with affordable prices. Same specs are available in Samsung and other brands with big prices. Although they have inspiration with iPhone and Samsung but still doing good. Only drawback i found is the weakness in resale value.

CM3, 24 Jul 2017Use a stock droid theme from the official theme store.a Theme is something, a rom is different. On my phones i only want the most basic apps, the bare minimum to run the system. It's no because apps a hogging, Nah, i just like the simplest things in life. I i want an app, i download it, if i want to customize i do it my way.
MIUI is terrible, it's awfull even. Xiaomi phones are known having problems with Gapps and play store internationally.
That's why i'm all for OnePlus phones (too bad Nexus isn't a thing anymore)

In India, Redmi covers market segment below INR 15k, Mi 5/6 are priced above 20k. They need something enticing in between range!

Considering HW it should be able to provide pricing incentive to price below mi5/6 range, with 5"/5.5" display.
