Phone manufacturers often use heatsinks to help the GPU keep cool for as long as possible.
Yes, I am fully aware that the comparison is 100% unfair, as a PC GPU gets an infinitely larger heatsink and help from chassis air flow. I'm just making a point that heat is something all GPU producers are struggling with.

Not that it really matters, AMD could make a 10X better GPU than Nvidia, at 10% the price, and brainwashed idiots will still buy Nvidia. NVIDIA will keep paying companies to make games run better on Nvidia GPUs and they will keep earning a stupid amount of money because of their monopoly. AMD still keeps their GPUs and CPUs open-source which is good as an ethic, but bad as a business model.

Vegetaholic, 01 Aug 2017Anyway, AMD only functioning as price cutter for NVIDIA car... moreThat's your point of view. For AMD users, Nvidia serves as a benchmark for the AMD cards that they will get for better price. I was an Nvidia person for over 15 years, until last year. I like where AMD is going with their business and I really like their ethics, such as delivering Freesync for free.

Anyway, AMD only functioning as price cutter for NVIDIA cards :) all their effort usually are smashed in vains once Nvidia releases new gen graphic cards with unbeatable efficiency and power, AMD is only cathing up as usual. Look good nevertheless with that price point, but majority of people will celebrate of able to take some Nvidia top cards for lower prices :)

Anonymous, 01 Aug 2017Why the hell are there pc hardware news on a phobe news web... moreIMO relation.. cloud gaming. Recent years, mobile internet / LTE is getting strong enough to stream games to your handset.. allowing you to game anywhere everywhere.

Take liquidsky.. GTX 1080 gaming power for rent. Vortex by remotr another one.

Mobile users want to play PC games but own their own hardware => Remote Desktop applications => Need PC Rig to Remote to => Desktop Graphics Card / CPU..

It all comes down to performance vs watts. If the graphic card takes too much watts for the performance.. its better to go cloud gaming.. since its either you pay the cloud gaming host.. or your electricity bills.

Why the hell are there pc hardware news on a phobe news website? Where is the relation?

At this price probably they use 800watts because it can't be that cheap comparing with gtx 1080 which costs 700eurous in my country.
But for 300 eurous I would buy a 900watt psu.

I hate it when graphics card only advertise about performance only. They never specify normal watt usage.

Take into account a desktop can consume over 400Watts in full load.. thats like 50 USD per month in my country if 24/7 always on and at full load. That make cloud gaming quite an attractive alternative.

Thats why when they try to attack the mobile world.. like tegra. They have a bad time dealing with heat and battery drain.

[deleted post]They're only covering the most important tech news. I don't mind them writing about those.

As for the Vega, we shall see after we see the benchmarks, but they seem to be competitive with Nvidia for now. I know with all the hype some people expected more, but the promise was there from day one that this will be just a bit faster than the GTX 1080. That said, even if price was equal, you get Freesync as part of the deal here. We shall see about efficiency after the reviews come in.
