Fujitsu LOOX F-07C dual-boots Windows 7 and Symbian

16 May, 2011
No, it's not Windows Phone 7 we meant with that title. Fujitsu’s LOOX F-07C for NTT DoCoMo is indeed capable of dual-booting Windows 7 and Symbian OS thanks to its clever dual hardware design...

I'm a bit of a collector of all things gadgety....Unable to resist I purchased an f-07c direct from Japan. It does indeed run Windows 7 and it is one of my prized possessions. Unfortunately it's not practical, the Atom processor clocks down to 500Mhz when the phone is running off battery power and is not in its docking station (a $200 option). This is probably due to a combination of the battery only running it in windows mode for about 30 minutes, and the rather amusing fact the docking station is equiped with a fan. A magnifying glass also comes in handy.

Could you just please not keep it in the Japanese Territory and release it globally ? We will be eagerly waiting for this Phone. It is just Fabulous. A Face Palm on Nokia's decision to dump Symbian. they forgot Symbian's Biggest Quality - Low Battery Consumption and fast processing over low grade hardwares.

Just for the people who obviously don't get it, judging from various comments... this beast boots Symbian and Windows 7, NOT Windows Phone 7. Fujistsu stuck an Intel Atom cpu in there, that's x86 architecture! Get it now??

Why not Android for 'power mode' and Symbian for 'eco mode'? Windows 7 is too damn complex for such a tiny device!
