Chinese brand high end brands are growing too. Apple's market share is dropping. Yes, they've sold half a million more than last year. Brands like Xiaomi probably increased their high-end device sales by 3-4 times those numbers. Using moderate numbers.

Look Samsung is selling a commodity device, with commodity hardware and a commodity os. The only advantage they have over the rest of the android oem's (specially the Chinese) is scale. In order for them to move their devices over the other oem's is to drop their prices. Apple does not have such issues. iOS is their own os (which no one else can use), their own platform and they tell everyone "we call the shots." When you can control your product that much, then you can do the things they do and get away with it.

This shows that Samsung's price is controlled by the consumers.. They might price the S8 highly but then people won't buy.. After that they are forced to give discounts and price cuts only to move the stocks.. Then the consumers will start buying.. Samsung consumers and Android consumers in general are very smart.. They won't buy anything that is overpriced despite having tons of cutting edge features.. On the other hand, Apples average selling price increased to $600 and will continue to increase.. This inevitably shows that Apple is in fact controlling the price and Apple consumers are dumb enough to buy whatever Apple shove in their face despite being highly overpriced.. No wonder Apple consumers are labeled sheep.. Try to project this to 10 yrs.. While Samsung consumers will still be paying an average of $250 for Samsung phones, the Apple consumers will be paying an average of $1000 for Apple phones.. Ridiculous right? Now project that to another 10 years..

Companies are charging bcz we like those products and people are ready to pay that price.. why so negativity ? Just don't buy the expensive one buy a cheap phone .. plenty of options out there.. all the time Chinese-apple-Samsung war..what's the use? Samsung is with apple (as a company) supplying products and gaining profit

You want diversity at the high end for the platform and that is not happening. Samsung growth (if they are any at this point) is not coming at Apple's expense. Apple's numbers have either gone up or remains flat. At the same time Apple's ASP have gone up while Samsung's have gone dramatically down.
Samsung best ASP year was during the GS4 at $289, they are now about $235 and selling less whereas Apple's is in the $600 range. So Samsung is selling less than they did during the gs4 year and at a considerable discounted price. That is despite charging a lot more for the gs8. That tells me they are doing a ton of discounts/promotions to move their offerings.
The Chines oem's are doing considerable more damage to Samsung than Apple. It makes sense since they are essentially selling the same goods with no differentiations. Those Chinese oem's can't offer iOS, that's the differentiation for Apple, and that has enable them to keep those Chinese oem's at an arms length. It will be interesting to watch how that plays out in the next few years.

Same quarter a year ago it was $595, to now $606. Those Apple haters never fails to live up to expectations as usual. LMFAO.

Well, honestly speaking, if we put to a side (at least for a while), the horrible fingerprint location (mostly on the +), the dedicated Bixby button with a premature Bixby assistant, and some little imperfections such as: little hiccups and a frame drop every now and then, the S8 (duo) is really a very good phone (to don't use fantastic, great, etc). In other words, it/they deserve this.

We are very far from Samsung good days, by the way S8 selling price was lot higher, ASP growing $3 is hardly nothing If your phone price is lot bigger than before.
