Google's Nexus/Pixels never had MicroSD card and a few other important features even in the early days.
The removal of the 3.5 mm headphone jack is indeed very sad, but now it gives me another reason not to look forward to it.

It'll probably come with free Bluetooth speakers in the box, but right now I'd still take a headphone jack over a compromise or having to use an adapter.
Sure - headphone jacks are soon to become a thing of the past. Just not quite yet.
Samsung S9 won't have one, but everyone won't be expecting one by then.

If the 3.5 jack is gone it'll likely upset some potential buyers. If I hadn't bought a pair of Bluetooth headphones (no GSM Arena people don't have to rely on the type C port), with fanfare I'd be upset to see yet another model going in the iPhone 7 duo and others route.

The gel case is more interesting than this Pixel 2 phone. But why is the clear ones more expensive. Very interesting. Oh, the phone...well....looks like pretty much the same as any other phone design. All smartphone look the same ever since LG, Samsung & Essential show up with that near bezel less design. In the future every single phone will be indistinguishable from each other when you look at it on the front. All full screen. Era of designless phone. Only the rear is changing.
