How is oneplus sold? Does this mean actual local stock and not grey imports like Kogan? If it can be local for under $700 AU ($550US) wouldnt be too bad given its competing with G6 at JB and Harvey for $900

Anonymous, 03 Aug 2017All about the price. Will be USD500+ Exactly.
OnePlus would have to set this at US$356 for it to sell.
And to be honest, that's what this device is really worth. The competitors are really that good and price fair. At US$399 the OnePlus 5 becomes a mixed bag, and above that pricing it really isn't good value anymore.

        Hmmm...
This is the first ever OnePlus phone that has the required radio bands, namely 700MHz-LTE, for compatibility with their carriers. So more competition is always good.

My concern is with the pricing.
They can't compete with Huawei, as its a larger more trusted brand. There's the iPhone and Galaxy S8 which should be more expensive but offer more, and also are perceived as highest-end. So the closest competitor is the LG G6, yet its a better phone in almost all categories. Also its been on "sale", even the Galaxy S8 is on discount now in Australia, the G6 for AU$460 (US$364) happens a couple times, and can be bought anyday for AU$570 (US$452).

I can't see OnePlus matching the LG G6, let alone beating it.
So it will be a HARD sell for them, and I doubt they will get many sold at their current asking price of ~AU$649 (US$515). If OnePlus are determined, they will need to set a price of AU$450 and have some word-mouth/internet publicity to get the public to buy it without scalpers.
