Sure, but the XL should have smaller bezels and stereo front facing speakers. So why not on the smaller?

It's coming but how long do people need to wait? Their photo app. It lacks some stuff in it. Named 2 things. There are a lot of these small stuff. they are catching up, but need to work faster.

I couldn't care less about bezels. I just want my devices (phone/tablet) to have front facing speakers. If a phone has all the bells and whistles no bezels and side firing speakers than I'm not interested and it might as well be an over priced door stop. Give me a good screen and front facing speakers with raw unadulterated Android and you've got a sale?

Quit crying about bezels. All of the sudden LG, Samsung and a couple others release bezeless phones and now you guys act like a pgone can't have bezels. Will the Pixel 2 have great peformance, great battery life and a phenomonal camera? 99% sure that it will. So what's the big deal? It's still gonna have great build quality regardless of the bezels.

Come on Google stop trying to be like Sony with those thick juicy bezels, at least it's functional this time so they have that going for them lol

I wish it had small bezels that did not cover up like 30% of the screen. Maybe it would be better to include water resistance this time and Quad dac?

It doesn't seem that Google is trying to compete with the Big players on the market. Unless it does it's AI assistant will not go big especially if every company gets it's own. Unless Stock Android rules (which it can't cause it lacks a lot of essential stuff) it's AI won't really be able to rule. If Google takes a real care of Android options than at least it can force companies to give option to consumers to choose Stock Android on devices, which a lot of people will do since it's lighter. But neither Software not Hardware? Too much

I hope this isn't real. HTC do seem to have a problem with slimming down on the bottom bezel though. They used to have their logo bar and now they can't centre the bottom buttons in the bezel where other manufacturers have done that for years. The pixel 2 will likely be my next phone... but if the screen to body ratio is no better than the Pixel, I'll be having a hard look around at alternative options.

Anonymous , 05 Aug 2017Google now joins the rank with Sony on the bezel controvers... moreSony was never alone.
                      They are always with Apple.

But none of the two have the great sounding stereo speakers of Sony.
I tried the XZ Premium's stereo speakers in a store and if wasn't that bad. In fact it was actually very loud in music, considering the store isn't quiet and has lots of people talking simultaneously.
But of course the selling point is how bassy and clear the audio is. It was so bassy that the whole phone is vibrating when playing music, and it was a whole new experience.
It's not a cheap device by any means but it sure does get the best of the best.
Not to mention the screen which I doubt even one could compete with, Z5 Premium not counting into.

Yeah I see it now.. and I see a noisy mess as a screen. Just a brighter part of the front of the phone, it can be edited that's what I'm saying.

With the whole bezeless trend that's going on Google can't have their upcoming phone looking like this, even with stereo speakers. I mean my Z5 has smaller bezels than this.

                                    Dear Google,

We the developers, modders, enthusiasts and fans want your attention.
The Nexus line has always been faithful to us, as we are to you. However the Pixel family seems to be diverging to a different route. We hope to buy a Pixel2 which is comes with speedy and slick Stock Android, with the fastest monthly updates, and official updates for at least 24 months. Although we also want great hardware to go with that great software. That doesn't just mean the QSD 835 and IMX 362. It means great designed hardware.

What we really want is the LG G6 inspired design.
Flat screen, flat sides... these help with impact resistance, and ergonomics ensure less drops. We don't want a glass back, it should be leather or metal. Ingress protection like IP68 seems to be a requirement of flagships which we yearn for. We also want front-facing dual speakers (stereo). We want minimal bezels, a Screen to Body ratio of at least 75% and below 85%. Having a fingerprint reader under the display would be great, but if not possible, it is better kept on the back. Also, let's not skimp on the battery, we need at least 3,500mAh but something closer to 4,000mAh is desired even if it means making the phone to a "fat" size of 9mm thickness. Also we beg you keep the 3.5mm headset port, like the Nexus 5X, and keep it on the bottom... this port can be waterproofed.

                                    Now want to go crazy/experimentive?
We can start with a symmetrical design like the TCL Idol 3.
Can have Magnetically-Snap accessory port on the back of the phone like the E-PH1/Moto Mods but make it tasteful like a discreet hole on the left-top corner, and, left-bottom corner so that the Mods can either house the backside or hang out from the landscape axis for things like a physical keyboard or gamepad.
Can have the main camera on the back wedged at the right-top corner, be flanked by an identical camera at the right-bottom corner for some 3D/VR fun.
Can have 3D/AR cameras on the front display as well.
Can make a lanyard hole on the bottom right corner.
Can experiment with an OS-toggle feature that will blackout-turnoff 3/4 of the (SAM)OLED pixels to make it a 720p-level display that can sip battery for longer use time.
Can experiment implementing a slim kickstand to the back, for ultimate media consumption.
                                    ... ... ... etc etc

We just want a great phone that's not fragile, and actually adds features rather than taking them away.

                                    Sincerely
                                    Your biggest fans
