remember Google+ ? :/

Simon, 06 Aug 2017Yeah, surprising to still see it look so good, so many year... moreExactly. I'm actually still using one as it is still decent for many tasks. I can't justify upgrading from the N5 unless it stops working. The S7/Edge is not expensive these days but I don't like the glass back.

zodiacfml, 05 Aug 2017ah, the Nexus 5. It desperately needs a successor with sim... moreYeah, surprising to still see it look so good, so many years later. It was my favorite Nexus device, cutting edge for its times in so many ways making it the best phone at the time, and priced at 349$ at that! I wonder if such a concept will ever come back. Man, I miss the Nexus series of those days, especially with the LG/Asus made devices. The value was insane.

taghack, 05 Aug 2017The true potential of AMP lies in the Google-backed cachein... moreyou mean Google / FB posing them as the 'saviours' od the connectivity problem conveniently swapping proprietary ad providers with their own? just to make sure webpage for the user loads a bit faster due to routing (which only applies to pages on different side of the globe, which shouldn't apply to majority of mor or less local content)... and gaining even bigger monopoly in the ad space? yay!

AnonD-79703, 05 Aug 2017"Naturally, just like the efficient and mobile-friendly AMP... moreThe true potential of AMP lies in the Google-backed cacheing platform. The slimmed down structure is only part of the story. The fact that you can have content instantly delivered by localized Google servers is the really groundbreaking convenient part, especially for users with slow or unstable internet connections and low performance devices.

Also, the format is quickly becoming an industry standard and so is the delivery method. Facebook's Instant Articles, for one, are based on a similar structure. I'm not saying it doesn't have its drawbacks and certain monopoly concerns, but it has the potential to solve a lot of content delivery, information dissipation and access problems.

ah, the Nexus 5. It desperately needs a successor with similar philosophy. Simple with latest chipset, soft touch back, decent screen. It has to improve on its weakness though, battery capacity and storage expansion.

"Naturally, just like the efficient and mobile-friendly AMP format," - please don't spread misinformation... AMP is bloated guano. it's seems 'light because it imposes limitations on the page but then if you impose the same limitation on a page without amp you will get blazing fast webpage without closing yourself in the Google walled garden...

Interesting to see the at the time groundbreaking Nexus 5 being used to model the app.
