I think it looks okay at least it has front facing stereo speakers and a smaller glass back, the XL will have smaller bezels if you're into that so don't worry fellas lol

Give me the Sith color of red and black of Pixel 2 that I see in other renders. Black front and black upper rear glass. Then red metal only on the back. That would look pretty nice in that color option. The red iPhone 7 blew its chance because black front and red rear looks better than white and red.

What they should have done is to ask HTC to design the phone, let them go a little nuts, i mean some of HTC's older devices look amazing, with a twist of 2017 thrown in there and an updated variant it'd look amazing, the likes of the HTC Diamond look really different and i think we need a change in design.
