I don't get the problem. It launched with marshmallow didn't it? So it's expected for Android O to be the last major update, like any other manufacturer

does it matter, 12 Aug 2017what else you can expect from these chinese garbage makers.... moreExcept that Android O will be the SECOND major OS upgrade for the 3 (launched with Marshmallow, got Nougat in 12/16). On par with almost every other major OEM. Plus, they constantly work on the N-based Oxygen OS and test features in the Open Beta program (as far as I know only Sony has a similar beta testing system).

Flagships require personality and true innovation (as in *not* "me too"), of which they have none.

Anonymous, 12 Aug 2017Who keeps phones for more than 2 years nowadays ?! No one r... moreI see no shortage of power-users that have mostly corporate workloads do (as in no games), which have (as second phone or even primary) a Nexus 5, iPhones 5/5s and Galaxy S3/S4 in the wild. I may even add that I personally still use a Nexus 4 as main phone (actually LG Optimus G).

The trick is two things. 1) always be up-to-date so that you know when the day comes to replace the phone arrived and make good choice. You don't want to replace it neither too soon nor too late. 2) always buy something with great support (3rd-party ROMs or 1st party), CM/LOS kept my phone alive for years --- when I was about to replace it with a OP3T, NitrogenOS rescued my phone for (at least) one more year.

TL;DR: In technology you always buy just what you *need* (not want -- NEED). The later you buy it the better, as technology will get much better and prices may even be lower (not quite the case now with smartphones). When the *need* arrives just buy the damn thing, there will always be something waiting around the corner, so take care of your *needs* not techno-parade wants.

At least they're honest about it, and I'm fine with it. Also, there are custom ROMs that will keep devices updated for years to come.

what else you can expect from these chinese garbage makers. Their flagship phone gets only one os update, especially when it sports an ui that is very close to stock android. Now the owners must regret for not shelling out little extra and getting a true flagship instead of this cheap flagship clone.

The camera on the oneplus5 is same to oneplus3t without OIS and the sound quality too.Built quality same as well.
Oneplus is a company that just makes phones same as previous ones (after oneplus3) with only newer chipsets and random oxynos changes. It's not flagship worthy in any aspect except speed.
