I think it will be Android Oatmeal Cookie. Oreo is not likely. When a name has been teased by Lockheimer (he hinted on 'Oreo') you can be sure it won't become the official name. Android Otal Olar Oclipse?

I don't care what they call it as long as Android 8 is great. For awhile, I thought KitKat was the best and it's my favorite chocolate bar. But I realized I really enjoy Nougat alot. Android 7 is awesome thanks to split screen and everything feels smooth.

My first Android was a Nexus One with 2.3.6 on it. Google usually makes Android better and better every year. Lollipop was flawed because it was Material Design in beta mode. It got refined since.
I just hope Android O and P won't ruin my phones with crashes, battery drain, RAM leak, etc. Marshmallow and Nougat are as good as it gets right now. I'm updating to O right away because I hate the yellow emoji blobs.
Android Z by 2028. I think after Android S or T, names won't matter. Android X is going to be hard to name for a treat. Android won't change too much anymore by 2020. Mobile OSes will be similar to desktop OSes and be closer to perfected.
Just improve the OS and keep it stable enough. Names don't matter. Lollipop was awful that first year although I personally thought it was fine. Good, better, best cycle.

It takes at least two revisions until the design gets good similar to phone's hardware where the iPhone 4 or Note 3 and 4 were great. Google won't change it to a different design language. O and P will be the 4th and 5th iteration of Material Design.
Don't ruin a good thing just for drastic changes. I like Nougat alot and plan to stay on it forever if O becomes Oh Sh*t to my phone. I hate new problems. The eldest firmware I can live with is Marshmallow. Last to offer us the Flappy Android Easter egg.
After four years, it is really hard now for me to go back to KitKat when it used to be my favorite until using MM and N. The animation, fluidity, and some updated apps just won't work on KK anymore.
Stick to the Pixel line. I bet Android V becomes Vanilla. That's what Google envisions Android to be. Not the fake experiences from Samsung. My V20 is slowing down three months after I got it. Android skins sucks. Weird because my G5 upgraded to N is still smooth.

Oreo is a licensed name but it does sound simple. Google surprised us with KitKat but everyone thought N would be Nutella and didn't happen. License name isn't simple to get. Nougat could be found in the dictionary.

Orange and just Oatmeal you can find in the dictionary but Froyo and Ice Cream Sandwich you couldn't which makes Orange Sherbet or Oatmeal Cookie possible.
I think Google should start promoting healthier food. Stop with the obesity and diabetes. Oranges have sugar in the fruit but has Vitamin C and potassium. I'm from Orange County and eat oranges every week and keeps me immune from sickness. It can be both sweet and sour if not ripe enough.
I know Android 9 is going to be Pie and not Pudding. A woman's pie can be healthy to a man's prostate. My favorite is Gilligan's fav which Mary Ann's coconut cream pie. ORGASMIC! Android 9 is a pie in the sky! Most of last year's phones will end in Android O and never get P. Two major updates and that's it. Only my Pixel and V20 will get P since they started from Nougat.
Android 8 won't have a great name like Nougat. Google couldn't get Nutella and KitKat was a licensing nightmare for them where Kit Kat had to be called KitKat. Oreo sounds obvious but they won't go there again and not with a mega corporation with Nabisco. Oreo isn't available all over the world like Nougat.
Oatmeal cookie sounds like key lime pie. So keep it simple, universal, and healthier - Orange.
